Marc by Marc Jacobs | Double Pocket Fields Handbag
I think the look of this field bag Marc Jacobs was trying to get was somwhere between an old army haversack and vintage schoolgirl bag. I got lost somewhere in the translation. It’s shape takes on a more carefree design, nothing too glamorous. I browsed around online to get more opinions from other blog and review sites, and the conclusion of many was they aren’t fond of this design by Marc Jacobs. Good thing fall is almost over, hopefully Marc has a new batch of breathtaking bags for winter.

Admirable characteristics worth noting is the four easy access exterior pockets that are convenient so you don’t have to dig through your bag to find your little things such as a cell phone, ipod, or keys. Also what I like about this bag is it’s simplicity of function, the interior is spacious enough for my notebooks and paper pads. There isn’t too much to dislike about this bag when it comes down to function.

It’s a perfect bag for school or carrying a lot of stuff around. This bag comes in gold haze, navy or grass with gold detailing. My favorite is the gold haze with the correlating gold detailing.

About Designer Luella Bartley

Luella Bartley
Since launching in 1999, London-based Luella Bartley has been delivering effortless street-chic season after season. Her eternal muse is the rebel Brit “It” girl who can’t help but be adorable in her pink button-down shirts tucked into skintight jeans or layered under Bartley’s favorite striped sweaters. Bartley mixes themes with ?lan: punk motorcycle jackets with gingham skirts; little black dresses with pearls for polka dots; preppy navy, red, and white. Add to this Bartley’s always in-demand accessories lineup of cool leather bags and shoes.

The Central Saint Martins grad and onetime British Vogue editor still lives in London – with fashion-photographer boyfriend David Sims and their two children – even though she’s been showing in New York since 2001. In a flip-flop setup, Bartley’s first few shows featured friends like Sadie Frost walking the runway while model pal Kate Moss watched from the front row. In January 2006, Bartley was selected to launch Target’s Go International line.

Gucci Cruise Collection

Gucci | Cruise Collection
Newly released Cruise collection by Gucci just arrived in the stores only recently. The Cruise line is re-introduced every year around this time, to act as an in-between season new release. This line comes in a variety of shapes from the classic small evening bags to the larger casual everyday tote. So many designs in this line, what stood out the most were the animal patterns in your choice of pony hair or beaded embroidery, the textured guccissima crocodile leather with the horse bit pattern scarf, the horse bit senne fabric with bamboo hardware, and the beaded floral patterns with detachable chain on the evening bags.

Funny story… I saw someone with what appeared to be the beaded zebra print hobo, but it was actually a fake coach hobo with the Gucci signature green and red stripe down the center with Coach inscribed hardware. It was very sloppy in design and ugly in appearance. I found some amusement in that, especially when I asked her where she got her bag.

Chanel | Cruise Collection
Cruise collection is the line that designers, such as Chanel, release as a filler before the next season approaches. Well here we are, at the beginning of the winter season with a line called Cruise. The color combination is not too vibrant, since it’s still the winter season not yet spring. It has the look and feel of a cruise to give you a light fresh feeling. The varieties of patent leather bags in this collection come in black, white, red, peach or tan.

Marc Jaocobs Soft Calf Handbag

Marc Jaocobs | Soft Calf Handbag
Popular and generally adored, this Marc Jacobs collection is the designers more high end line. The autumn highlights are the crafty new diamond-stitch quilting, calf leather, exotic prints and the beautiful deep rich autumn colors. This fall signature takes on a more vintage inspired frame shape for the evening bag line.

Soft Calf leather is the new line that takes on a new fashionable design with the introduction of a few new styles. My two favorite bags are the Zipper Sienna and East / West hobo. The Zipper Sienna is ornamented with two golden zippers that swoop around the underside of the bag, expanding the size and to add a touch of unique style. The East / West Hobo with the teardrop shaped sides, holding as the framework for the soft calf leather. This is an exquisite line that you can cherish through the years of seasonable fashion and trends. To my knowledge this line only comes in ivory white with coco brown suede interior, at this time.
Soft Calf Medium East/West Hobo for $795.

Juicy Couture | Socialite Drawstring Bag
When I first saw these bags it reminded me on the baby fluffy, only with a softer more shimmery appeal. The material chosen for this bag is a soft luxurious velvet that shimmers as it moves. I saw someone with this bag and what drew in my attention were the two oversized side tassels that hang from each opposite end and connect by weaving through the top mouth of the bag. That with the combination of the braided shoulder strap and shining hardware makes this bag one of my favorites for winter!

Dior | Embroideries Collection
Dior’s newest addition to the Embroidery collection is this adorable tote. So exquisite, you might find yourself arranging your entire outfit around it. This bag is made of polished grained calfskin leather with the name Dior embossed on the front top. The fabulous design on this bag is the shimmering floral with butterfly embroidery that’s designed with the warm color combination of red, yellowish gold, and green. The signature C and D links on the topstitch leather handles and CD rivets ornament this tote. I for one am glad this bag comes with metal feet, I hate when the bottom of my leather bags get scratched or damaged.

Burberry Tartan Handbag

Burberry | Tartan Handbag
The new, for a limited time only Tartan line by Burberry has arrived. The design tartan is described as a striped pattern of varying widths and colors crossed at right angles against a solid background, each forming a distinctive design. History says that members of Scottish clans wore these designs. If you looked in my glossary section you would have known that. With that said you could paint a pretty picture in your mind as to the inspiration and design of these bags and how it all comes together. The Tartan collection comes in wool with brown-pebbled leather trim and straps.

About Designer Dior

November 13, 2005

Christian Dior
Christian Dior’s reputation as one of the most important couturiers of the twentieth century was launched in 1947 with his very first collection, in which he introduced the “New Look.” Featuring rounded shoulders, a cinched waist, and very full skirt, the New Look celebrated ultra-femininity and opulence in women’s fashion. After years of military and civilian uniforms, sartorial restrictions and shortages, Dior offered not merely a new look but a new outlook.

Born and raised in Normandy, France, Dior moved with his parents to Paris when he was ten. After studying political science, he served in the military. His design career did not begin until 1935, when he returned to Paris and began selling sketches. The designer Robert Piguet hired him in 1938. During World War II, Dior served in the south of France, thenreturned again to Paris in 1941 and worked for Lucien Lelong at a much larger design house. In 1946, backed by textile manufacturer Marcel Boussac, he opened his own house.

Dior helped to restore a beleaguered postwar Paris as the capital of fashion. Each of his collections throughout this period had a theme. Spring 1947 was “Carolle” or “figure 8,” a name that suggested the silhouette of the new look with its prominent shoulders, accentuated hips, and small waist. The spring 1953 collection, dubbed “Tulip,” featured an abundance of floaty, flowery prints. Spring 1955′s “A-line,” with its undefined waist and smooth silhouette that widened over the hips and legs, resembled a capital “A.” Some of Dior’s designs simulated Second Empire and other historical styles, but he was also creating menswear, trompe-l’oeil detailing, and soft-to-hard juxtapositions, making them part of the modern wardrobe. By his final collections, Dior, feeling the need for a more limber silhouette and lifestyle, was designing chemises, narrow tunics, and sari-like wraps.

Together with his partner Jacques Rouet, Dior pioneered license agreements in the fashion business. By 1948, he had arranged lucrative licensing deals for fur, stockings, and perfumes, which not only generated revenue but also made him a household name. While the House of Dior is still a thriving business today, Dior’s untimely death in 1957 left the fashion world without a great dictator of style. Christian Dior designed under his own name for only a decade, but his influence will be felt for many years to come.

In 1949 Christian Dior changed the direction of mid-century fashion with his extravagantly feminine “New Look.” Today, the label’s head designer John Galliano has established the look of the “Anything Goes” era with his own extreme makeover of the house.
