Nordstrom | March 2006 | a breath of fresh air
While flipping through the Nordstrom catalog a few bags stood out, capturing my attention with either the very low price, lovely or ugly design.

Chinese Laundry | Tote | $38
I actually discovered this bag yesterday when I was browsing around the junior Nordstrom BP area. I was stunned with the remarkably low price, but then I realized the bag was not made of real leather. That was the reason for why I did not purchase it on the spot, although I fully regret it now because after getting this catalog I want it, but it’s sold out online.

Furla | Carmen Shopper | $340
I am two seconds away from walking down to Furla to pick up one of these bags. What I love most about this bag is the simple design yet bold eye-catching color, such as the chamois pictured above. This Furla Carmen is also available in saddle or onyx.

Elliot Lucca | Drawstring Bag | $238
Yesterday I went and returned the ‘Lenore’ oversized shoulder bag by Shelli Segal because the metallic was rubbing off. Trust me I didn’t want to return it, I loved the bag but it wasn’t worth $270. I didn’t even think I was going to return it since I’ve had it for a couple months, but I only used it 4 times and the metallic shouldn’t have rubbed off. Good thing Nordstrom will return anything.

Anyway so when I returned that bag I was going to get this Elliott Lucca bag, but I made the mistake of asking my boyfriend to come shopping with me and some how he convinced me not to get it. I’m sort of glad I didn’t, I realized I have an Etienne Aigner bag that looks just like it minus the braided detailing, that has been sitting in my closet collecting dust.

Cole Haan | Sierra Embroidered Bag | $295
Now it’s time for the last bag on my list – the Cole Haan Sierra Embroidered Carryall. I don’t really know what to say about this one, beside the point that I am not a huge fan of the color scheme. The pattern to me is nothing special, or at least it doesn’t spark my interest. I do somewhat like the overall look of the tote – the Sierra pattern combined with the braided trim and handles on this large, big enough to hold all my stuff, carryall.

First initial thought that went through my head, besides the obvious ‘what the fugly?’ was that this bag looks like a project you would give your little sister. Task: ‘I’m going to give you 10 teddy bears and I want you to decorate this bag in 5 minutes.’ It’s okay if a designer drifts off every now and then and comes out with some outrageous handbag, but really this bag has crossed the line into what I consider just plain ugly. Okay, now would you believe me if I told you this bag was by Dolce & Gabbana? Well it is, and you can find this hideous D&G bag at YOOX

Louis Vuitton | Runway Fall 2006
The countdown is on to get on the seasonally anticipated waiting list for the new Louis Vuitton glam bags! No big surprise here when I say that ‘the handbag’ is my favorite accessory. When the pictures came out from the Louis Vuitton Fall 2006 runway show I flipped past the jewelry, belts, and shoes, saving those for last while I daydreamed over the gorgeous new glam bags. Here are a few snapshots of my favorites from the show.

Runway review: Still, what really matters to this house is the bags. This season’s offerings were also a bit transgressive, though playfully so. Some of them came in soft embossed vinyl (a daring departure for a leather-goods house), others in white fur, sprayed with the multicolored blowups of the monogram as famously reinvented by Takahashi Murakami. Still others came in slinky leopard-printed chain mail grafted onto classic LV-stamped leather. The standout: a big patent hand-held tote with a handle formed from a pair of golden headphones. Never mind the clothes, that’s the one they’ll be beating down the Louis Vuitton doors for the minute the first delivery drops. – Sarah Mower

Versace | Canyon Medium Suede and Croc
Maybe it’s just me, but the shape of this bag confuses me. It looks like it got squashed. If this bag wasn’t Versace I normally wouldn’t take the time to tell everyone about it. However being as how it is from the famous Versace House I must tell you all about this Canyon Medium Suede and Croc Bag.

So while I don’t like the squished frame of the bag, I do love the gorgeous plush suede with croc-embossed leather combined with the polished gold metal buckles, rounded links and of course the iconic medusa medallion. This interestingly different bag is available in tan (which looks pink to me by the pictures), pale yellow, and white ivory.

Marc by Marc Jacobs | Electric Garden Handbag
This Marc by Marc Jacobs stylish tote shoulder bag is decorated with a brightly colored floral print laminated canvas. I would have loved this tote a lot more is it didn’t have the shinny laminated touch to it. That combined with the stripped straps and the MJ buttons remind me of a bag that I carried around in middle school. I guess one benefit to the laminated canvas is that you can be less concerned with worrying about the condition of the bag compared to other designer bags. Just toss it around, it won’t get dirty.
