Marc Jacobs | Spring 2007 Handbag Collection
High school memory: Back in the day I took Anatomy (and AP Anatomy). One not so pleasant memory is of a group project were we dissected fetal pigs that had been soaked in formaldehyde. I’m not going to get into detail on the incident but the end result was a trail of speckled formaldehyde landing on the face (and lip). You are probably wondering what this has to do with the Marc Jacobs 2007 Spring Runway, well keep reading. My teacher was a big fan of classical music in fact he played it everyday for the full hour of class. One song in particular that he always played during dissections was Pachelbel’s Canon in D. It’s still my favorite classical song but I can’t help but get the shivers when I hear it. Okay so when I heard that the song Pachelbel’s Canon in D played at the Marc Jacobs Spring Runway Show that memory is what popped in my head.

Dim the lights. Pachelbel’s Canon in D is playing. . . . .

It was a scene at Marc Jacobs: Ashton and Demi attracted such a big crowd that Posh Spice slipped by almost unnoticed. Fifty Cent was there with a date who, it seemed, forgot to wear a top. The kelly green runway was perched atop a river of turquoise bonbons, which Marc Jacobs – so thin and buff when he took his bow you could almost hear the gasp – has clearly not been eating. The show’s very first model got a great big round of applause for stepping out of her uncooperative Lucite slides and carrying them in her hands like it was the newest trend. – Amy Larocca

Ohh ahh very sparkly. This collection takes my breath away.

Metallics aren’t going away anytime soon. Marc Jacobs used plenty of this fabric to cover his bags

Finally the last batch of handbags from the spring showing. Even though I get an awful image in my head when I hear the music played on the runway, when viewing this collection it by far outweighs any disgust that I may have been thinking.

Right now I am chant in my head “where, when, now!”

Luella Bartley | Spring 2007 Runway Handbag Collection
Alright Bagista’s and Bagister’s, we have our first set of designer bags from the spring 2007 Runway, which I have been obsessively waiting for. Sadly though I am not that impressed after viewing Luella’s new collection. Here are a few bags from her collection. Later on today I will post more images in the bag forum, so if you want to view more of this collection and others, feel free to stop in.

I can’t stand the sight of disco balls. The rest of this bag looks okay at other views, however if I had this bag I would have to clip off that disco ball.

Luella’s black and white alphabet bags are definitely an eye-catcher but I wouldn’t waste my money on this bag. I have no idea what the retail is, but to me it looks like it belongs in Target (remembering Luella’s Go International at Target Bags).

The floral prints. Ehh I have never been one to decorate my wardrobe for floral prints.

Stella McCartney Falabella Lace Chain Clutch | Mischa Barton

Stella McCartney | Falabella Lace Chain Clutch | View!
Stella McCartney (a strict vegetarian) will never use leather or fur in her designs. After Stella’s mother passed in April of 1998, Stella stepped up her fight against the maltreatment of animals, a cause Linda had always held dear.

For this Falabella Clutch, Stella McCartney (like always) ditches the leather for luxurious materials such as panther antique lace and silk satin to create this very sexy and feminine clutch – imo worth every penny.

Celebrity | Mischa Barton | Stella McCartney Falabella Lace Chain Clutch
How can you not love Miss Mischa Barton doesn’t, she just look gorgeous in this dress (cant think of the designer). The event was the annual Prince’s Trust Berkeley Square Summer Ball and the clutch purse of choice was the Stella McCartney Falabella Lace Chain Clutch.

Tada! Revamped tBF!

Bag Bliss the bag blog
Date Added: September 11, 2006

Revamp and looking lovelier than ever The Bag Forum got a makeover. Tada! I love change and most of that change is inspired by your site suggestions. One member told me the colors of tBF bothered their eyes. Yeah I can see that, the grey was a wee bit boring. The plan was for the template to be temporary (like 5-7 days until I could find something better) but I never got the chance to really change it (due to laziness). So this weekend I searched and searched for hours (really hours, there isn’t a site you can go to where they have templates listed) then finally I (went back to the very beginning) and decided on the basic free template that it came with, but of course I changed the colors to the signature Bag Bliss purple.

In other news I am still working on the Member Album feature, so stay tuned on that. I don’t want to release it until I have figured out all of the unique features that I want on there. Suggestions are wanted, so feel free to email me or aim me at ‘Bag Bliss Bag Blog’.

Carmen Electra and her Chloe Betty Handbag

September 11, 2006

Celebrities and Their Handbags
Chloe | Betty Handbag | View!
I am definitely not a Betty Crocker. I go out to every meal. I stroll down to Seattle’s Best for my (3 times) daily triple tall sugar-free non-fat vanilla latte, which I can’t live or function without. For lunch I usually wonder down to Pike Street for fish and chip or soup and salad. Then when the evening rolls around I go for appetizers (yummy yummy oysters and wine), and the nights I don’t go for appetizers I usually get seafood or pasta for dinner. This is a very common trend for most people living in the downtown area of Seattle, if not ever major city. Betty Crocker is probably turning in her grave (I know she has never existed – so the image of her is turning in her grave). It’s not that I don’t know how to cook, because I (kind of) do, It’s just so boring and I can thinks of a million more things I would rather do. Hopefully I change this eating out trend, because this week alone (including picking up the group tab) I could have purchased this Chloe Betty bag (or at least 3/4 of it). This would have been a nice addition to my handbag collection.

The Chloe Betty is a super roomy (day, evening or overnight) spacious tote that measures in at 15″ x 10″ x 7″. Currently at Net-a-Porter this bag is only available in black, and even comes with a detachable small mini Chloe purse.

Carmen does not have the exact Chloe Betty pictured above, but it’s pretty similar. Cute – cute

Celebrity Style: Judith Leiber Cleopatra and Medusa Handbags

Date Added: September 10, 2006

Judith Leiber | Cleopatra and Medusa Collection | Mischa Barton
This is an update on the Judith Leiber post that I blogged about when the news was first introduced – The bags are set to debut this month at all Judith Leiber stores (located in Las Vegas, Atlanta, New York and Costa Mesa, California) Saks Fifth Avenue, and Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus and retail in the high range of $2,000 to $10,000.

Stylist to the rich and famous celebrities Rachel Zoe is teamed up with Judith Leiber to create high-end chic bags with reptile detailing. Rachel Zoe (a vegetarian) is obsessed with animal skins and incorporates much of this passion into her new line. The exotic animal skins used to create these bags, to name a few, are crocodile, lizard, and python. To this collection there are two basic styles that Rachel Zoe created with Frank Zambrelli the creative director for Judith Leiber. The Medusa style is a pliable satchel with ruched outside pockets at the sides, woven leather or suede shoulder straps and a flap closure and the Cleopatra is an oversize, rectangular minaudiere. The bags come in about 12 color variations, including a siren red and a matte gold, and are topped off with a heavy gold fob depicting two snakes coiled around a ring. The inspiration for these pieces came from by an old French doorknocker. Huh, I wonder if that’s what Christian Louboutin had in mind.

Judith Leiber | Cleopatra and Medusa Collection | Lydia Hearst and Lindsay Lohan
I haven’t seen this collection yet but I’m very curious to see how these bags turn out. So far from what I have been reading about this collection I’m not that impressed, I would rather save my money and buy a more classic bag, such as a Hermes.

On Sale: Jennifer Aniston & Mischa Barton’s Luella Gisele Handbag

September 9, 2006

Luella | Gisele Handbag | On Sale $599.89 | View!
Long ago the Luella Gisele was once the hottest “It Bag” of the season. It was first introduced in later months of 2003, but was not instantly crowned with the “It Bag” status until months later when we saw it on the arms of almost all fashionable starlets and celebrities. Wonder what’s in the name? Young designer Luella Bartley named the Luella Gisele bag after the Brazilian beauty supermodel Gisele Bundchen.

Even though this bag dropped it’s “It Bag” Status, it’s still one bag that is admired by all ages. See below, Jennifer Aniston and Mischa Barton are still toting theirs.

New L.A.M.B Collection

Bag Bliss the bag blog
Date Added: September 9, 2006

L.A.M.B. Love Collection | Handbag on the Left
L.A.M.B. Signature Collection | Handbag on the Right
Tim Schifter described the idea behind the collection was to “create something timeless, something classic and with an irreverent twist. That’s why going into the design process, we came up with a concept that we really tried to stick with as we came up with the collection group: style after style, leather after leather. The bags themselves are closer to the European luxury feeling than the American contemporary handbag category. I think they’re highly differentiated but priced in the contemporary. Gwen’s unique personal take on fashion incorporated her signature elements like Rasta colors and the old English lettering. For spring, we’re incorporating velvet into the collection. For this first launch, there are two collections – the Signature collection and the leather collection which is called Love. The reaction has been phenomenal. We were going to launch it for Spring 2007 delivery but the retailers wanted it for holiday.” (thedaily.com)

There are 33 different styles of handbags, which retail in range of $395 to $700. These new bags will make their debut beginning of December. This will be perfect timing for the Holiday shopping season. Location – location, these bags will be available at stores such as eluxury.com, Nordstroms, Bloomingdales, Henri Bendel’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Holt-Renfrew in Canada.

To be honest (sorry Gwen) I don’t really care for this collection. I have only seen those two bags pictured above from the L.A.M.B collection and nothing really stands out enough for me to rush to the Nordstroms on the day of delivery. That being said with out seeing the collection up close – I may change my mind.
