The Moschino Muffin Bag

July 23, 2007

The Moschino Muffin Bag
If a designer finds great success in the sale of a designer handbag that is loved generally throughout most of the purse community they will continue the line of success slightly-revamping it along the way until they decide to go another direction.

While flipping through Vogue for this up and coming month of August I was blown away when I came upon pictures of the new Moschino Muffin Bag. The bag is truly breathtaking. The purse reminds me of one of their bags that they came out with a while back under their Cheap & Chic Line – a less expensive but similar in quality line.

The bags, as you see share similar strong details, such as the pleated sides that scrunch up and gather at the mouth with a thin belt that loops around holds it all together clamping shut with a heart and key charm lock.

When the Cheap & Chic was still available it retailed for just under $1,000 while this new Muffin bag retails anywhere from about $1,000 for the small and on up to $2,000 for the large.

> Right now over at Zappo’s there are a bunch of the Muffin bags in from simple canvas or leather to eye-catching metallics. Go on over at check them out! (My heart is set on the juicy red patent version – it’s totally stunning)

Song Hye Kyo and the Celine “Miss Song Limited Edition Bag
A couple days ago an event was thrown at a Haute Couture fashion show in Hong Kong in honor of the recent release of the Celine “Miss Song bag named after South Korean actress Song Hye Kyo.

Celine’s artistic director, Ivana Omazic on the collaboration: “Having traveled extensively throughout Asia, I have found that Asian women have become more active and have obtained more freedom in modern society. Today, I am delighted to have worked closely with Song Hye Kyo for this new creation and to be a part of an innovative project that opens up our company onto the world. I sincerely believe this bag represents the new voice of Asian women.

The bag, which looks quite similar to Celine’s Bittersweet purse is going to be produced in limited quantities and expected to hit store shelves in Asia when fall rolls around. The limited-edition “Miss Song Bag” retails for about $4000.

All money generated from selling the bags will be donated to Song Hye Kyo charity organizations.

Harajuku Lovers VS Dooney’s Candy

July 22, 2007

Harajuku Lovers VS Dooney’s Candy
Both bags named “Candy? are dressed in a suit of taste-y candy. But who does it best? Which would you wear? The eye-catching Dooney and Bourke candy tassel handbag or the Harajuku Lovers Candy (even though there isn’t really any candy – more of sweets) tote?

Personally my vote is for the Harajuku Lovers Candy tote. It’s more casual and comfortable to carry as a on-the-go day bag. I can totally see myself using it as a beach bag or in replace of my market tote which I have been using a lot lately in replace of using plastic bags. The Dooney bag is unique (not favored in the Bag Forum) but there is just too much going on. The design is cluttered. The Dooney bag is like a candy bin and the Harjuku is like a handful of your favorite sweets.

What do you guys think? Dooney or the Harajuku Lovers??

The Gucci Indy Handbag

July 19, 2007

The Gucci Indy Handbag
Gucci sent me an email today, and on it was the bold new Gucci Indy bag in gunmetal python with light gold hardware.

This bag is definitely not one of my favorites from the Gucci House no matter what print. The handle, how it rests on the shoulder, is just so uncomfortable to carry. Although it does come with a detachable shoulder strap in case you cant stand the stiff top handle.

This new bag comes in a variety of different fabric from plain leather or the house signature (beige / ebony) double GG to python or guccissima print with a price range of $2350 and on up to a whopping $5790.

Go on over to Gucci.com to view pics of the whole collection.
