Juicy Couture ‘Medallion Estates’ Vertical Tote
Recently added to the bag rack of Nordstroms is a newbie by Juicy Couture; meet the ‘Medallion Estates’ Vertical Tote. For one, it doesn’t look like the most popular types of Juicy Couture bags that I’m used to seeing at my local mall. As a matter of fact, If I were to spot this bag out in public with no knowledge of who its by, I wouldn’t consider it being a piece by Juicy Couture. Pebbled leather is the material of choice and can be found in three different hues including black and brown. The gold plated hardware adds a nice touch to the tote, giving the bag a classy look. What are those functions in the middle of the tote you might wonder? One is a push-lock, which gains access to the totes interior, while the other is a metal button (for decorative purposes) engraved with an elegant “JC” script. Its shape is vertical, although I’m not too fond of vertical shaped totes, this bag is capable of holding more than your regular daily essentials. Overall, I like this Juicy. It’s got a sophisticated look to it and looks pretty durable as well. One thing I do dislike is how the $595 price tag isn’t too convincing!

I think it’s a perfect combination of leather + suede. Oh and the square clasp closure is made of stingray.

Nine West With A Twist Clutch

Nine West With A Twist Clutch
Nine West With A Twist Clutch
I will tell you the truth. I have never been much of a fan of Nine West. I’m not too fond of the stiff-looking PVC plastic they use to construct their handbags. I admit it! I am a hardcore leather girl! I just can’t help it! I love the way leather looks and feels. And I don’t like the fact that Nine West bags are made of plastic.

So why am I writing about the Nine West With A Twist Clutch? Well, oddly enough, I feel this little guy is worth a second look. I first saw this bag in one of my favorite department stores. The bright colors were calling to me, begging me to pick them up. And do you know what? To my surprise, these clutches are soft! They are made of PVC, but it is thin and flexible. The “scales” are slick and shiny while the spaces between them are fuzzy! You will actually want to touch this clutch!

Yes, I know what you’re all thinking. You’re looking at this clutch and thinking that its another one of Nine West’s attempts to knock-off a Valentino (or a Nancy Gonzalez, or a Christian Louboutin for that matter!). Nine West has seemed to have taken a liking to Valentino bags lately and they have been more than just “inspired” by them. But you know what? If you’re just looking for a fun, inexpensive going-out bag then this clutch would be perfect. The Nine West With A Twist Clutch measures 12″ x 6.5″, is available in 4 different colors, and retails for $69. Check it out at Nine West’s Official Website

L.A.M.B Edinburgh Plaid Purse

L.A.M.B Edinburgh Plaid Purse
L.A.M.B Edinburgh Plaid Purse
Have you Bagista’s seen the latest handbag and accessories pattern by L.A.M.B? Edinburgh is the name given to the new plaid design for the brand. What do you all think? I personally am extremely picky when it comes to picking my plaid; hence, I’m not that great of a fan. Some plaids are pleasant and effortless to match an outfit with, but then you run into designs sporting lines with abnormal hues, and you just can’t help to dislike such clutter.

I apologize to any L.A.M.B fans out there (as well as the fans of this particular design), but I just cant find any likes in the Edinburgh line. It all starts off with the multicolored plaid fabric that looks so incredibly cheap. The hues and its texture does nothing for me. I can’t even begin to think what I could possibly wear to match my bag with. I will note that in the past, L.A.M.B has released better-looking designs on their handbags and accessories such as the glazed love line, which happens to be my favorite. What do you ladies think about the multicolored plaid pattern? Do I stand-alone with my opinion and dislikes, or would you definitely rock a piece of this line?

Valentino Fango Nappa Blossom Petale Handbag. Yves Saint Laurent Nadja Purse

June 19, 2008

Valentino Fango Nappa Petale Handbag
Valentino Fango Nappa Blossom Petale Handbag.
Over the last half year or so with the introduction of the Valentino Blossom Satchel Bag and the Historie Purse I have discovered a new obsession with Valentino handbags. Those bags, as well as the other new additions to the house are so stunning, and have been on the top of my want list!

Pictured above is one my favorite newbies to Valentino flower rose line, the Fango Nappa Blossom Petale. Available only in the color clay (at this time). This beauty features layers and layers of buttery leather, that spiral around to form a lush rosette pattern. I am such a sucker for rose designs. Additional noteworthy features: This bag is accessorized with golden hardware, feet to keep your bags bottom from picking up germs, a secure top zip closure, a cotton lined interior spacious tummy with a capacity of 13.5″ width x 12.5″ height x 5″depth, plus double strap options for either carrying by hand or over the shoulder action (double top handles have a 4″ drop / detachable crossbody strap, 11.5″ drop). Right now the Fango is available at saks fifth avenue for $ 2495 preorder.

I know what you vintage YSL fans are thinking. Of course this spiral rose design should look familiar.. do you guys remember the Yves Saint Laurent Nadja Rose purse? Oh yummy, that was like one of the first designer bags when I was a teen-ie that triggered my bag obsession.
Yves Saint Laurent Nadja Purse.
Yves Saint Laurent Nadja Purse.
Above is a vintage campaign pic of the lovely Nadja purse, designed back in the early 2000′s (I’m pretty sure this bag debut spring 2003) by the fabulous one and only Tom Ford. This bag as been long sold out, however if you’re lucky you can spot one on ebay.

Side Note: In 1999, Gucci acquired the house of Yves Saint-Laurent and Parson’s educated Tom Ford was named the creative director of that label. During his time as Creative Director for YSL, he won numerous Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards. That shouldn’t be a surprise, his ready to wear designs were amazing. His departure date from the house of YSL was in April 2004.

And the bags look pretty similar don’t you think?

One common problem with the YSL Nadja was that the rose design flattens over time. I sure hope the Valentino Fango beauy doesn’t have the same problem.

So what would you guys rather have? A vintage YSL Nadja rose bag or the newer Valentino Fango Patale purse version?
