Chains are back and they are better than ever! Well, that is, where handbags are concerned anyway. To be honest, I have always had a soft spot for bags with a chain strap. But what’s hot right now are chain details located elsewhere on a bag, not just as a strap. And when it comes to chains on handbags, I personally prefer something that isn’t too dainty. But I don’t want anything too heavy either. Why so picky? It’s simple! I don’t want to feel like I’m going to break it! However, I also don’t want a chain that is so big and heavy that it feels like I’m carrying around shackles! Yep, I’m a medium-sized chain gal all the way. But what I think is so neat about the so-called chain “trend” is that it can involve any kind of chain, big or small. So there is literally something out there for everyone. So without further ado… I present to you our top picks for chain-detailed handbags!

1. Marc Jacobs Stardust Cecillia Studded Satchel
Chain details that have nothing to do with a handbag’s strap may be hot, but no one can argue the feeling a chunky chain strap can give you. The Cecillia is such a gorgeous bag, with its studs and quilted leather. Heck, the chain strap is just icing on the cake!

Last week, Reese Witherspoon was spotted taking in a little shopping at an LA boutique called Satine. And it looks like a Rebecca Minkoff Morning After Clutch was just added to her handbag collection.

I would have never guessed she was a Rebecca Minkoff fan, but I guess who isn’t these days? For the occasion, Reese was sporting her favorite 3.1 Phillip Lim skirt. The high waist and geometric pattern seem to flatter her figure very nicely. She paired the skirt with a simple black top and gray shoes. And to complete her ensemble, Reese is carrying what looks to be a gray suede handbag.

But wait, I just know I have seen that handbag somewhere before. It’s driving me crazy, I just can’t seem to put my finger on it! It is a very lovely handbag, there is no doubt about it. I really like the slouchy shape, the diagonal zippered pockets, and contrasting trim. I’m really curious as to how soft and plush the suede is. It looks really luxurious in the pictures.

The newest Gossip Girl, Hilary Duff, was spotted on the show’s downtown set this last week. Hilary’s look was composed of a black leather jacket, black miniskirt, black tights, and black lace-up booties. The outfit’s only hint of color is the flash of red seen on the top she is wearing. But, of course, what Gossip Girl would be complete without a handbag? And Hilary’s bag is none other than the Rebecca Minkoff Darling Hobo. I really like how the glazed leather ads just the right amount of shine. And the tassels dangling from the side zippered pockets are, well, darling! But wait, an all black outfit with a brown handbag? Old-think says that this is a fashion no-no. However, new-think says this is a very doable combo. Pairing black with brown would certainly bring new life to an old fall/winter wardrobe. Hilary is certainly proof of that!

Heading towards the science building at my University today, I dreadfully watched a fellow student drop her notebook computer from her weak grip under her arm. Poor notebook… it must have been new too as there was absolutely no case protecting the gadget, or maybe she just never felt the need to invest in some cushion for it.

Having that in mind, I browsed Net-A-Porter to see what tech cases they currently have in stock for one of man’s most trustworthy portable devices. Surprisingly, only two choices are available at the moment that’ll be the Into the Wild Case presented by Marc by Marc Jacobs and the Taffeta Laptop Case by Anya Hindmarch.

Both have similar concepts yet very different designs. I adore the funky leopard prints and the raspberry color of the MbMJ twill case; it’ll make a fun case to add to your casual wardrobe and definitely some arm candy to wear on canvas.

If leopard and multicolor prints aren’t your style, settle for the luxe-tech Taffeta bag. This purple and patent trim features a gold signature interior, tassel pulls and an exterior pocket labeled “Bits and Bobs”; it’s simple, cute and definitely classy.

Things are getting ‘curiouser and curiouser’ this season. eye4style’s looking forward to the Bergdorf Goodman holiday windows!

I love any accessory that has to do with multicolor. It’s kind of weird though because mostly all my clothing is black and white, but when it comes to purses, wallets or other small accessories I love seeing lots of color.

I’ve been obsessed with the Louis Vuitton “Multicolore” collection for years and I love when I see other designers add some color to their collections too. Fendi has the “Chanel Mini Chain Multicolor” Tassel bag available for pre-order on the Saks Fifth Avenue and it’s adorable!

It’s just a miniature little Fendi bag with this over-sized tassel hanging from the bag. The little purse looks like any ordinary Fendi bag, but the tassel is what really catches your eye. The bag itself is pretty blend, and to have a huge colorful tassel hanging from it gives it some pizazz.

Obviously, this bag isn’t ideal for everyday use. I, myself love bags that are on the larger side so to have something this small in my collection is pretty pointless. I suppose, this could be a great day or evening bag if it’s paired with the right outfit. A simple outfit of jeans and a tunic would compliment it well, especially if the tunic has some color in it.

The Fendi Chanel Mini Chain Multicolor Tassel Bag can be purchased at Saks Fifth Avenue for $560. It’s not a bad price for a designer piece, but if you don’t get much use out of small bags then it would be pretty pointless to purchase it. I won’t deny though, it’s definitely an adorable bag!
