Animal-lover and U.N. Goodwill Ambassador, Angelina Jolie, was recently spotted with the new Akris ecru horsehair handbag. She even called to Akris to check on the well being of the horse. “We told her horses get haircuts just like we do,” Akris designer Albert Kriemler told Women’s Wear Daily. Her Akris ecru horsehair handbag reportedly retails for almost $5,000!

I honestly don’t know exactly when this happened (perhaps when Marc Jacobs released his Marc By Marc Jacobs Petal to the Metal Collection?), but bird motifs really started to appeal to me. I find them charming and I love how they represent a free spirit.

There are those that love python handbags and those who shy away for various reasons. I have recently become a part of the first group. The bold textures of the python skin provide a depth to the bag with little or no ornamentation required. While you can purchase python handbags in a plethora of colors, I am still a naturalist at heart.
I love the edgy styling of Carlos Falchi. He takes fabulous leathers and hand detailed features to make simple, but beautiful handbags that hint at his rock heritage. The Carlos Falchi Slouchy Python Hobo with the tie at the top has simplicity and beautiful details.
