Purse Trend Alert: Feeling a Little Blue!

Feeling a little blue? I think the emerging trend in handbags is too! I’ve begun to notice a mini-trend with some designers. Here are just a few of the great designs just out!

Bottega Veneta Woven Leather Bag in INK!
I have noticed that Bottega Veneta does a wonderful job of indicating future color trends. I was drooling over orange last winter and coveting the rich purple this season. So, it might not surprise us that by featuring this beautiful and rich inky navy blue, it could foretell what is to come! This classic bag style measures 10” x 6” x 5 ½” and is $980.00

Fendi Large Python Peekaboo Tote

Well here’s a familiar face! Or should I say, familiar handbag? The Fendi Peekaboo Tote has been around for quite some time now. But it never seems to get old, does it? I wouldn’t be surprised if the Fendi Peekaboo Tote becomes an iconic piece some day (if it hasn’t already happened, that is). What I like most about this bag is the fact that it comes in a variety of sizes and colors. But this latest version of the largest size is… WOW! Introducing the Fendi Large Python Peekaboo Tote.

Tech Chic: Dooney & Bourke iPad Case Clutch

Dooney and Bourke just came out with a new accessory for the designer loving tech-bag-ista.

In conjunction with Apple’s release of the iPad the designers over at Dooney & Bourke have created this chic new case, available in an assortment of classic colors – sunny yellow, fire engine red, navy blue, chocolate brown, taupe, ivory white and of course jet black. I kinda wish they had a couple fun colors thrown in the mix, like pink or purple.

And so do we!

Adriana Castro bags have been spotted all over the fashionscape lately, including 5 amazing styles that were featured in the Sex & The City II movie! But my favorite style that’s currently on my want it now “Lust List” is the Nina!

Adriana Castro’s Nina Clutch has been such a hit lately among celebrities! Pictured on the left is gorgeous Colombian actress, singer Danna Garcia pictured at Disney’s Toy Story 3 event with her lipstick red crocodile Nina. And on the right is American celebutante, socialite, television personality Kim Kardashian with her classic jet black Nina.

The Nina is a simple miniature portfolio-style clutch designed from exotic crocodile.

Nicole Kidman Style: Prada Framed-Top Satchel

prada-framed-top-satchel
It may be summer here in the United States, but Nicole Kidman was dressed seasonably-appropriate while visiting her family in Sydney, Australia last week. After all, it’s winter there in the Land Down Under! She looks so chic in her black leather jacket, dark gray scarf, and blue jeans. But what really caught my eye was her handbag! It is the Prada Framed-Top Satchel and, man, is it gorgeous!

This rich, calf-skin bag is from Prada’s Spring/Summer 2010 Collection. The bag came in two sizes, but it looks like Nicole’s is the larger one. I love the framed-top opening with its unique snap closure. It helps add some interest to this otherwise simple style. And don’t let the fact that this is a satchel scare you off, the Prada Framed-Top Satchel comes complete with an optional shoulder strap as well! This bag is so structured and chic, it would make a great investment piece and a strong cornerstone to any handbag collection.

Hot Summer Style: Neutral Handbags

Summer is here! And with warm weather comes bright colors! Er… right? While I do love my fuchsia F+C Mini City, I think I might be ready to try something new for Summer 2010. I heard that neutrals were supposed to be really hot this year, so I figured why not. And with that, I was off to check out all the neutral handbags this season has to offer. And do you know what I found? A wide variety of styles in everything from clean off-whites to touchable taupes. If there was ever a such thing as a “neutral rainbow”, this season definitely has it! Below I have listed some great neutral picks, so check them out and see what you think!

Alexander Wang Elsa Framed Clutch

Alexander Wang is always coming up with unique and interesting-looking styles. But when I came across the Alexander Wang Elsa Framed Clutch, I found myself rather surprised. This clutch is unlike anything I have ever seen before from this designer. In fact, if I hadn’t known any better, I would have sworn this clutch was McQueen. After the initial shock wore off though, I found myself becoming intrigued. This may not look like any Alexander Wang bag I have seen before, but it is still pretty cool nonetheless. I love how this framed clutch opens up to reveal 3 different compartments. It reminds me of those vintage coin purses with the different compartments for different types of coins. And the flames printed on the dark, cowhide background are incredible! Who would have thought a clutch this small could make such a big statement?

Ikat Boho Sacks

You know… I had thought canvas boho sacks were dead and gone. But recently, I have been seeing them floating around town and they seem to be gaining popularity with the younger crowd again. When it comes to handbags in general though, I am more of a leather gal. But these Ikat Boho Sacks that I found over at Free People are so darn cute, I just might stray away from my typical preferences. Perhaps not as an everyday handbag though. I was thinking more along the lines of a beach bag or shopping tote. I love the bucket shape and the wooden bead detailing. And I really like all the different colors the Ikat Boho Sack comes in! I am especially drawn to the red, white, and light blue bag shown in the picture above (second one from the right).

Rebecca Minkoff Heavy Metal True Love Bag

Wow! Rebecca Minkoff has certainly had a lot of new styles lately! It seems like it was just yesterday that I wrote about the new Rebecca Minkoff Studded Out Drawstring Pouch Bag. That cute little bag is covered from head to toe in studs. Adorable! But if you’re like me, then you probably found yourself wishing Rebecca Minkoff had made a larger sized handbag that was “studded out” as well. Funny thing is, Rebecca Minkoff did make such a bag! Meet the Heavy Metal True Love Bag! This rocker-chic hobo has some serious attitude.
