Rebecca Minkoff sure has taken a liking to heavy hardware over the past few seasons. Up until this point, however, a majority of this has come in the form of studs (in every shape and size, of course). But it looks like the designer has decided to expand her horizons a bit for her latest collection. She is now experimenting with other types of hardware. And, in the case of the bag you see pictured here, these “other types” include buckles… serious buckles. Introducing the Rebecca Minkoff Main Squeeze Clutch!

Perhaps my favorite of the three bags that make up this particular group, the Main Squeeze Clutch is very similar in size to the MAC. The front of this of clutch is adorned by… not one… not two… but five buckles! The buckles are neatly arranged in a stair-stepping fashion, creating a diagonal line that moves from the upper left-hand corner to the lower right-hand corner of the bag. But these are not ordinary buckles.

Miley Cyrus recently teamed back up with BCBG designer Max Azria, for the part two collection that’s sold exclusively at giant retailer Wal-Mart.

The news: The Center for Environmental Health has discovered high levels of lead in purses and wallets by the Miley Cyrus brand. On the official CEH website they most recently found three lead-tainted accessories at Wal-Mart, including a wallet that was contaminated with over 30 times the lead limit.

Celebs love the slashed biker jean trend! You know what I’m talking about, those super skinny jeans that are slashed from there to you know where! I suppose they are okay though. Well… at least for celebs anyway. I mean, they aren’t exactly the easiest (not to mention practical) thing to wear. And you definitely have to have the right body type.

So what does this little ramble have to do with handbags? Nothing really! But for some reason, it was those jeans that popped into my head when I saw the ROMYGOLD Biker Slash Tote. Hmm… I wonder why! This distressed leather tote features 5 inch “slashes” running across both the front and back sides. Peeking through the holes is the bag’s same-color cotton lining.

It’s been a while since we here at BagBliss featured an eBay auction, but this is one that I just couldn’t pass up telling you about. The Elle Portable Light Project sale features designer created solar panel purses that generate clean, sustainable energy, with 100% of the proceeds going to a charity!

The Portable Light Project is a non-profit initiative that provides solar kits to those in poorer countries who don’t have access to electricity by creating new, fashionably chic ways to deliver de-centralized renewable power and light to the developing world. And it doesn’t stop there, the team over at PLP even partnered up with non-government agencies to help train women to integrate the technology into fashion using their local textile materials and techniques. The end product is something amazing: culturally diverse bags, blankets and more that generate clean, sustainable energy and light, while supporting local economies.

I’m experiencing a bit of déjà vu here. It seems like I was just talking about the Fendi Peekaboo Tote. Wait… I was just talking about the Fendi Peekaboo Tote over at Bag Bliss last month! But here it is again (in all its glory), hanging from the arm of Blake Lively! The Gossip Girl was spotted outside the studio where she had been shooting the first few episodes of the show’s fourth season. So what’s so special about Blake’s Fendi Peekaboo Tote? Her bag is the ultra gorgeous all-python version. Yowza! Now that is one gorgeous bag! And one major investment piece! Well, at least the style is super practical. I really like the double compartment design, it’s perfect for keeping your things organized. Plus it looks awesome with Blake’s outfit. Although I’m not sure if I can forgive her for wearing Pepto-pink, super wide-leg pants. Yikes! I guess I should be thankful that she is at least color-coordinated.

Meet the Marc by Marc Jacobs Dogs of Marc Packable Shopper! It’s one of several packable totes that are new for Fall 2010. They were designed to be tucked away with ease and then open to hold all of your purchases while you are out shopping. Some of the totes are plain, while others have cute little cartoons printed on them.
