Tory Burch Jaden Tweed Tote

Ahh! Fall is coming. Hints of it are in the air with random cool days, shorter daylight hours and the anticipation of the September magazines. When the air starts to cool, there’s nothing better than cozy little knits, tweed jackets and boots. Why not combines all of these and match them to the fabulous new Tory Burch Jaden Tweed Tote. It has everything Fall going for it!

Alexander Wang Angela Mini Pochette

Alexander Wang brought us the fabulous Rocco Duffel to carry every day. He’s doing some wonderful things with his other handbags too! We’ve come to know and love him for his rich luxurious and textural leathers, simple shapes and architectural features. With the Angela Mini Pochette, you will not be disappointed. The Angela Pochette is a bit more for the arty type. It’s a tiny bit edgy and a whole lot smart!

The 5″ drop circular handle is a bit too large to qualify it as a bracelet bag. Those tend to bother me a bit too much. It is large enough to hand-carry comfortable and even slide up onto your forearm for hands-free moments. I’m intrigued with the three ball-shaped metal studs on top of the handle. They aren’t hard edged like many of the studs, they are more of an architectural detail like the rows of signatures rounded studs on the base of the bag.

Jimmy Choo Studded Sylvia Grainy Bag

When it comes to investment piece handbags, I really like the vintage-inspired styles. In a way, it is sort of like evolution. Through trial and error, certain classic styles have been perfected to the point where there is little room left for improvement. Styles like that are sure to stick around for the long haul and really stand the test of time. So when I came across the Jimmy Choo Sylvia Grainy Nappa Tote, I knew that it was something worth investing some money into. This lovely, vintage-inspired silhouette features these dramatic cut-out handles that are sure to grab the attention of everyone in the room. What I like though is how Jimmy Choo adorned the handles inside and out with flattened pyramid studs. So cute! I also love the gently gathered leather body, which really helps to soften the shape of this bag so it doesn’t look too boxy.

Leigh & Luca New York Leigh Flock Hobo

Is it just me? Or does the nylon trend still seem to be going strong? I am still loving my nylon Gryson Skye, that is for sure! But what about a nylon bag that isn’t simply the nylon version of a style that is normally made of leather? Well I stumbled across this Leigh Flock Hobo from Leigh & Luca New York and it really got me thinking. I love the classic, slouchy hobo shape. The gentle pleating adds just the right amount of softness, while the detachable chain detail adds just a hint of toughness. Plus the rolled leather handle looks so comfortable. And accenting the dove gray nylon body is a black (flocked) print that depicts a flock of birds.

Wild About Animal Prints! (part 2)

It’s about that time of year again! Yes, I’m talking about Fall! And that means it’s time for all those animal prints to come out of the closet! What was once called a “trend” is now becoming a classic wardrobe essential for those months when the leaves begin to fall. Why? I think the reason this look keeps cropping up year after year is because it makes you feel kind of warm and fuzzy. And that’s just the feeling you want when the temperatures outside begin to drop. This look can also be a lot of fun, even a little bit quirky. But please ladies! If you decide to do the animal print thing this Fall… be sure to do it right! Just one piece, like a structured handbag, is all you need! There really is no need to pile it on!

Katie Cassidy Style: CC Skye Turner Hobo

katie-cassidy-style-cc-skye-turner-hobo
Katie Cassidy was shooting a new episode for Season 4 of Gossip Girl with co-star Chace Crawford at Columbia University last Wednesday. Her outfit consisted of a light gray ruched dress topped with a navy blue pinstriped blazer. Her look was accented with a multi-strand pearl necklace. Classy! But what is that pop of color I see dangling from Katie’s hand? It’s the CC Skye Turner Hobo in a delicious shade of red! Yummy!

The CC Skye Turner Hobo is the perfect everyday bag. I love the classic hobo shape and the gentle pleating detail. The leather is super soft, but lightweight as well. The gold tone hardware and studs are understated, drawing the eye in and holding your interest without taking away from the overall look of the bag. It isn’t classic, but it isn’t trendy either. What a great way to update your look! Katie did a great job picking this beauty out! Or was that the handy work of the Gossip Girl wardrobe staff?

Jessica Alba Style: Ralph Lauren Collection Suede Slouchy Hobo

Jessica Alba was spotted shopping in Soho last Monday. The actress was wearing a really cute outfit for her little outing. I love how she paired a casual, high-waist skirt with a simple tank. She accessorized her look with a long cameo pendant and a spiked leather bracelet. But what really caught my attention was her handbag. It is so gorgeous! Despite this instant attraction, however, the handbag’s identity seemed to elude me. Who makes this bag? It turns out that it is the Ralph Lauren Collection Suede Slouchy Hobo, which is new for Fall 2010. This hobo features a wider than normal silhouette that gently slouches when worn on the shoulder. I love the unique look of the double shoulder straps with their buckle detail. I also love the concealed zipper pockets on the front. The diagonal lines they create give this bag a feeling of grace and elegance, despite its large size. Nice choice, Jessica!
