Is it just me? Or does it seem like a little bit of a trend is brewing? I’m talking about ethnic-themed handbags! If you remember, I wrote about the Jimmy Choo Lottie Clutch not too long ago. Well here is another equally-intriguing ethnic piece I found, the Foley + Corinna Bali Clutch! What’s even better though is that this piece sells for a much lower price point and is, therefore, a lot easier on your wallet!
Some of us are already enjoying the sunshine and beach weather and some aren’t. One thing is for sure though, soon Summer will be here and a majority of America will be able to enjoy the sun and beach. For those that don’t ever experience extreme heat where you live, then perhaps you’ll travel somewhere this Summer that does. All in all, Fashionista’s love being prepared for the heat. The intense heat may make us sweaty and tired but a true fashionista loves looking stylish at all times regardless of the temperature.
I’m not sure why, but straw totes are always a big trend for the beach. Whenever I go to the beach, which is rare, I always spot a ton of straw totes. Personally, I don’t like carrying bags to the beach because I believe sand is evil. It goes everywhere!
However, I love the Felix Rey “Superstar” Straw Tote. This is definitely a bag I’d consider to buy because not only is it adorable but it matches my wardrobe! It’s cute, spacious and and makes your beach visit a little more fashionable.
What did I tell you? Tribal handbags are hot and they are turning up everywhere! So it is definitely not too late to grab yourself a fun and festive piece for the upcoming summer season! What I find interesting about these lovely bags you see pictured here, however, is that they are a little more authentic. What do I mean by that? These bags are from the Wayuu Taya Foundation, a non-profit organization that is working to improve the lives of Latin-American indigenous people. Their primary concerns are extreme poverty, malnutrition, high child mortality rates, waterborne diseases, and educational deficiencies. Their mission is to help these communities while maintaining and respecting their beliefs, traditions, and culture. Their bags are made by Wayuu indigenous women at the foundation’s women center that educates women on parenting, family planning, nutrition, and hygiene. All proceeds go toward helping the foundation achieve their mission.

You know that summer is just around the corner when a slew of straw handbags start cropping up everywhere. When it comes to straw handbags, however, I have some really mixed feelings. The material is natural, neutral, and light weight. It is the perfect material for beach totes and it looks pretty nifty as well! It is the everyday styles that I am somewhat hesitant about. I mean, you can only have a hit or a miss. So when I heard that Rebecca Minkoff had given her own spin on the straw handbag, I found myself quite intrigued. Were they going to be a hit or a miss? Well, I think it depends on the style!
Amazing, because who wants to let their cards shuffle around in their clutch? One common problem that seems to arise when using one of my evening bags is that some of them are just too small for even my smallest wallet. Card holders are the perfect fit. They’re simple and sleek and hold only a couple cards with no fear of loosing a card over board everytime you pop open your purse. The Yves Saint Laurent card holder in textured gold leather retails for $140. There are only two slots, which is perfect for me.
