Alexander McQueen Clutches

The fashion world is abuzz with the current showing at the Met in NYC of Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty now through July 31. If you have an opportunity to see this amazing perspective on McQueen’s artistic creations, you should definitely plan to attend. McQueen was a genius beyond genius at creating edgy, gothic creations that are a marriage of dangerous visuals, meticulous construction and graceful beauty.

Much like McQueen’s fashion designs, the clutches have become an iconic handbag much like a classic Chanel, Bottega Veneta’s woven leathers or Birkin. These delightful creations are for the fashionista who wants a little bit of edge whether she is in a graceful grecian gown or dark and edgy couture. Each new version extends the McQueen design style, pushing the boundaries of accessories to art.

Kooba Faye

Ever since Kooba disappeared from the shelves of my favorite local department store, I sort of lost track of this designer. There is no doubt that Kooba is still near the top of my list of favorite handbag designers. Out of sight does not necessarily mean out of mind. So I just couldn’t help but wonder what the heck they have been up to lately! You probably have already guessed by now that I decided to take a little peek at Kooba’s official online store. What did I find there? For one, there was a lot of canvas! But none of those really catch my eye. Nope, my eyes landed on this leather style you see pictured here. It’s called the Faye Shoulder Bag!

Burberry Grainy Bag

I’ve never been a huge fan of Burberry. Plaid is definitely not one of my favorite fashion statements. I don’t wear plaid nor do I own any accessory that’s plaid. What’s weird is that I’m half English, and I don’t even like plaid. If you know fashion, you know Brits love their plaid. My family does, I on the other hand despise it.

However, when it comes to classic, iconic, beautiful handbags Burberry is up there with the best. The company always makes handbags that are so sophisticated looking and would look with any outfit you put effort into. By that I mean, when you dress up of course.

Rebecca Minkoff Three Zip Rocker

In April, I wrote a blog about the Rebecca Minkoff “Trompe l’oeil” Morning After Bag. It’s probably in my top 10 favorite Rebecca Minkoff bags of all time. It matches my wardrobe perfectly and I’m so upset I wasn’t able to get my hands on one. “You win some, you lose some”, is the saying right?

Well to my luck, my blog caught the eye of Rebecca Minkoff’s team! They were very appreciative of my post that they sent me the, “Three-Zip Rocker” Crossbody Bag in red! I was in total shock! I couldn’t believe it. It’s just as pretty as it is in person and the color is gorgeous.

Kipling Kuwana and Reth Bags

I love my bags. Designer labels, luxurious leathers, woven details, exotic skins, metallic finishes. So many beautiful finely crafted features. But what’s a girl to do when traveling to a destination that might have wet climates, require hiking through woods, boating or avoiding stickiness that pervades summertime amusement parks? Does she risk her beautiful bags for a day of fun? Of course, the answer is a resounding “no”. But what options does she have other than a quick run to a discount store? There are plenty of well-made, attractive options for the outdoorsy types out there. One of them is Kipling!

My first Kipling bag was a pink camera bag that had multiple compartments and could hold a hefty video camera, regular camera wallet and items for the kids. It proved especially useful when traveling to the Florida keys. Luggage for my daughter, satchels, and wallets for her followed as well. Each has been incredibly durable and useful for their purpose. They have survived airlines, school bus rides and sleepovers. So, while considering what I might carry on a trip to Wyoming & Montana for hiking the mountains and watching sulfurous geysers erupt, I immediately thought of Kipling!

I do love a good hobo bag and the Kipling Kuwana shoulder bag just might do the trick. It has a very clean shape with black on black design elements and a simple albeit cutesy monkey charm. The bag is roomy enough to hold a couple of water bottles, wallet, camera and other essential for the day! It’s very lightweight, so I can carry a lot of “necessities” like (sunscreen and bugspray) without too much extra weight. Measuring 16″ x 12 1/2″ x 6 1/2″, it might be my perfect traveling companion for a mere $98!

Swash Zebra Scarf Silk Bag

What’s black and white and red all over? Okay okay, bad joke! I know! But I do have a bag here that is black and white. And instead of being a zebra with a sunburn, this interesting looking piece resembles more a zebra with some killer tattoos! It’s called the Swash “Zebra Scarf” Silk Crepe de Chine Bag and it is new to Net-A-Porter!

Tory Burch Audra Wallet

I’m so glad that the big handbag trend is over! I guess I’m just such a minimal bag person, don’t really need to carry everything with me while out and about running errands or grabbing drinks with friends. A gorgeous continental wallet is all that I really need. One of my favorites is Tory Burch’s Audra. It’s sleek and simple and topped off with Tory Burch’s signature charm detail, which I absolutely love.

Moschino Love Tote

I’m a hopeless romantic that loves fashion and anytime I see anything in the fashion world that’s related to love I melt. I consider myself a stylish modern day hippie. I’m a firm believer that there is too much hate and negativity in this world and that we should spread peace and love as much as we can. What better way to spread some love than carrying a bag that says it in big letters? I know whenever I see someone that has a shirt or bag that says something I’m intrigued and I find myself reading it. Do you?

The “Love” Moschino Shopper is a perfect example of a fashionable accessory that’s out there to spread some love. Think about it, who isn’t going to read your bad when you’re walking right next to them. It’s kind of inevitable when you have women spelling out love on a bag. It can kind of act as a daily reminder, if you’re having a bad day, to just spread and feel love. Cheesy I know, but that’s the way I think.
