Black & Gold. How do you feel about that trend? Wait… is it a trend? Black and gold together has been around for a long time. However, every time this trend resurfaces, it looks and feels brand new. I suppose the look is different enough that it just feels refreshing. Usually when you see black and gold together, it is black leather with gold hardware. Nice! But I stumbled across a very interesting looking piece.

Nudes are everywhere right now! On your feet (shoes), on your nails (polish), and even on the beach (shame on you, I was talking about nude swimsuits)! But I suppose it should come as no surprise. After all, nudes are definitely a warm season trend. So why not nude handbags as well? They have been popping up left and right lately! I really love this look. Nudes are so simple and chic, plus they go with just about anything! You have to be careful though. There are definitely dos and don’ts with this trend. For example: Do go for rich textures, but don’t pair nudes with perforations (too Band-Aid-ish). Stick with geometric or animal-inspired textures instead.

At the moment, I have a huge obsessed with Kate Spade and I think a lot of other fashion lover’s do too! I’ve known about Kate Spade for years but I feel like in the past year she’s really blown up! What I love about Kate Spade is that the brand exudes class but in a girly girl type of way. I personally think Kate Spade is probably the cutest designer brand out there and really lets women stay in touch with their ultra feminine side. I’m still dying to own the “Is this seat taken #Handsome Stranger” Tote. I wasn’t able to get my hands on one but it would have been perfect for school! It was pink, adorable and oh-so-me. Sigh, maybe one day I’ll bump into one!

Who doesn’t love Hollywood glam? And for that matter, who doesn’t love movies? Nothing captures the imagination like the big screen! Well, it seems Charlotte Olympia couldn’t agree more with that statement. Her line has always been inspired by a bygone era of old Hollywood glamour. But her latest collection has taken this inspiration one step further. Hollywood glitz and glamour has suddenly taken on a more literal sense. Check out the Charlotte Olympia Box Office Pandora Perspex Clutch, for example. I think you will see what I mean!

This lovely clutch has the classic Pandora styling. There are two hinged halves that fasten together on top. Inside you will find the usual detachable zippered pouch. What makes this particular style so interesting is the design on the exterior. The clear perspex features a gold-tone metal adornment that resembles the outline of a film strip. I don’t think you can get anymore literal than that!

The look is certainly different and it would make a great conversation piece. I don’t think you necessarily need a Red Carpet-ready ensemble either. A simple little black dress would pair quite nicely with this piece. It would provide an excellent showcase, emphasizing and calling attention to the gold-tone film strip.

Kate Spade New York, celebrating 20 beautiful years in the biz!

It’s been two decades since Katherine Noel Brosnahan along with her husband and business partner, Andy Spade, created the brand “Kate Spade New York” with the introduction of her trademark black nylon bags. Since then the brand has grown to be an iconic American Brand household name, carrying a vast variety of everything from ready-to-wear, shoes, bags and accessories to home decor and dinnerware.

I have always been a huge fan of her bags. Although I have to admit, year ago when my handbag obsession kicked off with the introduction of this bag blog (8+ years ago), I wasn’t crazy about the nylon bag look. So easy for counterfeiters, plus I’m not really a fan of boring black nylon bags… just not my style. However, nowadays she has so many new styles, seasonally! Ask any bagista: What is the most practical handbag color? Nine times out of ten you will hear the answer: Black. Okay, so I probably just made that up. But it is true that many of you ladies out there see black as a very practical color. It is classic and it compliments just about anything (color-wise). It is no wonder so many bagistas choose black when seeking out a handbag wardrobe staple. Oddly enough, I don’t seem to follow this line of thinking myself when choosing a handbag. Black is fine, I suppose. But I think other colors are equally worthy of being called “practical”. Brown is very versatile, for example. Red is also a wonderful color that compliments many things. There is a new trend brewing though. Dark grey is becoming the new black. It is neutral, yet it is different enough to make everyone you pass walking down the street give your handbag a second glance! Below are some great examples of this new trend!
