Alexander McQueen Designer

Alexander McQueen became a fashion icon early on in his career. In his teen years he was already designing for Mikhail Gorbachev and Charles the Prince of Wales. In 1996, he was named the head designer of Givenchy. This was a shock to most people because he succeeded John Galliano who was also in line for the job. McQueen’s time with Givenchy was unsuccessful for the most part and he left the company in March 2001.

In December 2000, the Gucci Group acquired 51% of the Alexander McQueen company. Through his partnership with the Gucci Group, he has opened stores worldwide featuring his own collection and launched his very own website where consumers can buy his clothing and accessories.

Lee Alexander McQueen, founder of the brand, died February 2010. Today, Sarah Burton is the creative director.

I love Alexander McQueen! I’m so crazy over the skull stuff, even though I know how there are a gazillion of other designers who do the same. :dizzy:
