Alexander McQueen Hummingbird Knuckle Clutch
I am not going to deny that Alexander McQueen makes the most beautiful pieces. The Alexander McQueen Knuckle Clutches aren’t my FAVORITE favorite (that would be the Skull Clutches), but they are definitely the next runner up. They are always so ornate with many exquisite details. But I came across the Alexander McQueen Hummingbird Knuckle Clutch and… well, I have a little bone to pick.
Don’t get me wrong, this clutch is gorgeous! The bird, apple, and skull artfully perched atop the knuckle duster top are very beautiful. And the embroidery! Oh my gosh, it is breathtaking! I love the colorful birds and the equally colorful flowers. But as a biologist, something is really bothering me. When I look at the golden bird on top, I can’t help but think it looks like a hummingbird. The features are all there. The short wings, long narrow bill, and fanned out tail. So if this is indeed a hummingbird, why on earth is he eating an apple? Hummingbirds eat almost exclusively nectar from flowers and they occasionally supplement their diet with insects as a source of protein.

Fergie was spotted at the premiere of ‘Safe Haven’ in L.A. dressed in Gucci and toting along the Alexander McQueen Apple & Hummingbird Knuckle Box Clutch! Her version isn’t as dramatic as the embroidered version, but I’m still a fan.
