When looking for inspiration, I often find myself turning to the strange and unusual. Let’s face it, there is nothing more fun than writing about quirky handbags. By exploring how others (in this case, handbag designers) express themselves, I think we can all learn more about ourselves. Or, at the very least, get a good giggle out of it. And some designers are just really good for that. Marc by Marc Jacobs, anyone? Who doesn’t like his whimsical doodles? It is no wonder that the bag you see pictured here immediately caught my eye. But wait, that is not the handy work of good ol’ Marc. Meet the Mugler Muglerette Bag!

Z Spoke by Zac Posen Eartha Bag

Zac Posen Earth Bag
Animal prints are still “in”. At least I think they are anyway. They are so much fun, especially on handbags. But sometimes you just grow tired of the same old spots and stripes. Does anyone know what I’m talking about? It seems like there is handbag after handbag with leopard spots or zebra stripes. That is why I was so happy to see something a little different surface in the sea of handbags out there. Introducing the Z Spoke by Zac Posen Eartha Bag!

Balenciaga Giant Mini City

What is your ultimate must-have handbag? Well with so many bagistas out there, I’m sure there are a zillion answers to that question. For some of you though, I am going to guess the Balenciaga City. A great classic style, the Balenciaga City is definitely loved by many. It has a structured shape, yet it isn’t too formal. It has a little bit of edge, yet it isn’t too over-the-top. Plus the leather is wonderful! But if you already love Balenciaga, then I don’t need to tell you that. So what could be better than the Balenciaga City? How about the Balenciaga City in mini form? Introducing the Balenciaga Giant Mini City!

CC Skye Tyler Hobo

Wow, this is strange. Normally I am delighted to see a new CC Skye handbag. But I’m feeling a bit perplexed right now, even conflicted. I love CC Skye and, thanks to all that chunky hardware, their handbags often remind me of their jewelry pieces. Then I saw the handbag you see pictured here and my jaw dropped to the floor. I simply could not believe that this was from CC Skye. Meet the CC Skye Tyler Hobo!

CC Skye The Red Carpet Clutch

CC Skye handbags are cute and I love how the hardware resembles CC Skye jewelry. You know, chunky and with a little bit of edge. So when I saw the Red Carpet Clutch from CC Skye today, it should come as no surprise that I was really excited.

This is such a sweet little clutch. I really like the fat, box clutch styling. It gives it a more casual feel. I also love the pyramid studs clustered on the sides of the clutch. It is a familiar look, yet still a little different. And, of course, I love the black and gold combination. Just like my fellow blogger Marissa, I believe black and gold together is a must-have trend. As with most other CC Skye styles, this clutch has a little bit of edge. I think it would look great paired with your favorite rocker girl-chic look.

Charlotte Olympia Pandora Paradise Cage Clutch

I have taken a liking to Charlotte Olympia lately. I will see one piece from this designer and write about it, only to turn around and see another equally blog-worthy piece. I am not sure what it is that draws me in. I suppose I just like the quirkiness of these pieces. They are unusual and something different to write about. So it comes as no surprise that I have stumbled upon yet another piece from this designer and instantly fell in love. Introducing the Charlotte Olympia Pandora Paradise Cage Clutch!

MM6 Maison Martin Margiela Shopper

Can you define the word “minimalism” in only three words? I certainly can — Maison Martin Margiela! You have probably seen handbags from this designer floating around here and there. They are always very clean and simple. You won’t find any flashy hardware or complicated designs here! If you love this minimalistic look, then Maison Martin Margiela sounds perfect for you! There’s just one problem, these pieces tend to be a bit pricey (especially considering the fact there isn’t much to them). There isn’t a lot of bang for your buck. That is why I was so excited when I saw this designer’s diffusion line called MM6. Check out the MM6 Maison Martin Margiela Shopper and tell me what you think!

Rebecca Minkoff Billy Woven Straw Clutch

I know it is January (A.K.A. the dead of winter). Spring and summer are the farthest things from most people’s minds. Yet, many designers are already releasing (or will very soon) their collections for those warmer weather months. That means bright colors and summer-ready materials like canvas and straw. Although these pieces are strictly seasonal, they can still be a lot of fun to own. The trick is to look for more affordable pieces. Right now I am really liking the Rebecca Minkoff Billy Woven Straw Clutch ($295)! Not only is it affordable, it’s really cute too!

Alexander McQueen De Manta Flesh Dragonfly Spine Clutch

The Alexander McQueen De Manta Clutch is back! This is probably one of my favorite McQueen styles. And judging from all the new versions that keep appearing season after season, this is a favorite for a lot of other bagistas as well. I don’t blame anyone though, this clutch certainly has an allure. I have always loved the soft lines and folded corners. They give this clutch a certain degree of uniqueness that I find very attractive. I don’t think I have ever seen a version of this clutch that I didn’t like. The one you see here is certainly no different! Introducing the new Alexander McQueen De Manta Flesh Dragonfly Spine Clutch!
