    Mara Hoffman Beach Bag

By Marissa Hopson · On January 6, 2011

I’ve always been a firm believer in karma. Good or bad karma exist to me. I feel if you do good or bad things it ends up coming right back to you. Half of my family is Spanish, so I grew up believing in the “evil” eye.

For those of you that don’t know what the evil eye is, it’s basically exactly how it sounds. Mostly people of Jewish and Spanish backgrounds believe in it, but any culture can take part in it. Basically it acts as a protector. You wear it as a piece of jewelry anywhere on your body and it protects you from those wishing bad on you. The saying is, that if it falls and breaks someone was wishing bad on you and now the karma goes back to them even worse. Some people may think it’s superstitious but if you believe in karma like I do, then you may think it might actually work.

I’m not sure if Mara Hoffman purposely put an evil eye on her bag, but that’s certainly what it looks like. To me, the beach bag has the whole Spanish pattern style along with an evil eye placed right in the middle. I think you need to wear an evil eye for it to fully protect you but I guess it’s kind of cool on a bag. Not sure I’ve ever seen it on a bag, but it definitely has a unique look to it. For those not knowing about the evil eye though, they may questions why an eye is placed right in the middle of the bag. Kind of clever if you ask me. It’s the type of bag that only certain will understand but will intrigue many.

The Mara Hoffman Beach Bag can be purchased at Shop Bop for $215. Not too bad price wise and it would be the perfect fashionable addition to an island getaway.
