Corn is an odd thing to talk about, especially on a blog dedicated to handbags. What do we know about corn? It is okay to eat, I suppose. Most people don’t realize it isn’t a vegetable, although it is advertised as such. Corn is a C4 plant, which simply means it can conserve water by taking in carbon dioxide at night. Plus corn is used to make all sorts of things from diesel to plastics. And now… handbags? Well, sort of. Meet the Rebecca Minkoff Corn Husk Boyfriend Tote!

As you may have already guessed, this beautiful handbag is made of corn husks. I hadn’t really thought about it before, but corn husks are actually a great material to use for a “straw” handbag. Corn husks create a richer and thicker texture than more traditional materials such as raffia. The result is a look that is not only natural, but bold as well. With this particular piece, I really love the way this texture pairs nicely with the muted tones of blue and turquoise. What a great looking handbag! And I haven’t even mentioned the rolled leather handles and gold tone hardware yet! Those too are very nice features. This handbag would make a great summer accessory, whether you’re looking for something to go poolside or to pair with you everyday warm weather casuals.
