Botkier Joy Satchel: Benefiting Oxfam America
Joy Bryant has teamed up with Monica Botkier to bring us the Botkier Joy Satchel. Bryant is one of Oxfam America’s Sisters on the Planet ambassadors. “It’s an initiative engaging women of all walks of life to raise awareness about the environment”, says Bryant. The relief and anti-poverty organization specializes in helping communities, all around the world, realize individualized solutions to their problems. To help them in their efforts, Botkier will be donating 50% of the proceeds from the sale of these bags.
So what do I make of the Botkier Joy Satchel? I like it! But it definitely has a more casual feel than other Botkier bags. The leather topstitching featured on the front bias seams is cute and quirky. This bag has… oh, what’s the word… country charm. It would look really nice with today’s so-called “vintage” look, but without the risk of looking too trendy (and could therefore be carried over into different looks). I am also liking the cute little pouch that comes with this bag. It is the perfect size for use as a cosmetic bag! And, of course, the optional shoulder strap provides some versatility to this top-handled style. This bag would definitely make an excellent investment piece!
The Botkier Joy Satchel is available exclusively at ShopBop.com, where it can be purchased for $575.

I wonder what this bag looks like in person. The color seems so different in both pictures. I like the shade of the bag Joy is holding, the other one not so much.
Am I looking at the same bag? They look different to me.
Normally I would say pass and wait for it to hit the sale section. But majority of the proceeds are going to OXFAM, so this is a must in my book.
I agree. The “vintage-look” is the new “classic”
I wouldn’t spend $600 on this bag! Even though 50% “OF THE PROCEEDS” is being donated. That’s way too much.
BTW, When they say “OF THE PROCEEDS”, that usually means only about $40. I would rather wait til this bag hits the sale section at Bluefly for $290 and donate the rest to Oxfam.
I agree!
I called shopbop and unfortunately they’ve only made 25 of these bags, so if you don’t get one before they run out, they’re gone for good. And the numbers are quickly dwindling at the website!
Hasn’t this bag been out for some time? Did she just re-introduce it or something?
Hey all – just wanted to stop by and say I have this bag and it’s fabulous. It’s my go-to purse of the season.
I love this purse. The color is such an amazing shade of brown and the detail is weekend-chic casual-classic.
I’m not really a fan of this bag. It’s too casual for my taste. Do love that she’s donating to a cause. Wish more designers followed her lead.
