Aussie model and Victoria’s Secret Angel Miranda Kerr was spotted at the airport in Sydney over the weekend. Accompanied by her son, Flynn, she was returning to her hometown where her family resides. Both were dressed in comfy clothing, baby in little sweat pants and mom in a pair of skinny leather pants and a loose fitting tee. What grabbed my attention though was the bag slung over Miranda’s shoulder. That is no baby bag! It’s the Alexander Wang Diego Bucket Bag!

I remember when I was in 9th Grade the biggest craze was messenger bags. Literally every girl, out of the 200 of us, had a messenger bag. It was odd to see someone actually hauling around their books in a book bag. The boys used book bags, the girls used messenger bags that’s just the way it was. My aunt had taken me to Macy’s and let me pick one out. I picked out one by Guess? and it was $32. In reality, hardly any of my books fit in it but boy did I feel stylish. I think 2 books fit inside it and I had to carry the rest in my arms.

I know what you’re thinking. Why would I pick such an “ordinary” handbag as my favorite of 2011? Let’s face it, I absolutely love bright colors and unusual designs when it comes to handbags. Or at the very least, some funky hardware (Hello, Alexander Wang!). I write about them all the time. Sure they are fun, but truly loving a handbag long-term requires a little bit more than just bells and whistles. It has to be timeless and practical enough to wear with just about anything. Clutches are amazing especially oversized ones. When you’re as unorganized and messy as me a clutch is perfect. You can only fit so much in a small pouch and it keeps you organized. Probably not a good thing to admit I’m messy but I am. I’m so unorganized it’s pitiful but at least I an promise that my hygiene is amazing. I just have a struggle with keeping things neat and together but after a while I do get the urge to clean it.
