Betsey Johnson has always been one of the most eccentric designers out there. Her and Pat Fields remind me of each other. Both women are fearless and not afraid to show this in their designs.
The Betseyville Betsey Girl “Bike” tote is adorable. Not only do I love that Betsey Johnson put herself on the tote, but she also dressed herself up as she would actually be seen in real life. The hair, the skirt, the shirt, the shoes everything about the tote screams Betsey Johnson. My favorite feature has to go to the big lips on the back of the tote. Nothing is ever finished without a kiss, well at least in my opinion it’s not.

I’m 25, and I’m still incredibly girlie. I love anything pink, that’s fluffy, has rhinestones or even looks like a tutu. I have a fear of growing older. Not because I may age but more because getting older sometimes isn’t fun. I loved not having to worry about anything. Nowadays we have to worry about jobs, paychecks, how we are going to pay bills, etc. It’s not easy being a grownup! Seems like your mind is going a mile a minute when you are.
Whenever I see a bag that brings me back to my childhood I secretly want it. When I was little everything I owned was pink and I loved over the top girlie things. The Betsey Johnson “Rosey” Tulle Frame Bag is adorable and is definitely a bag I would of wanted when I was a child. It literally looks like something you would find in the toy store dress up isle.
I’m not sure if I would use this bag now but it sure is cute! I suppose if I had something pink for it to go with it would look pretty but considering my wardrobe is all black and white it’s pretty much useless in my collection. That doesn’t stop me from loving it though. I think what catches my eye the most about this bag is the rose design featured on the front! It reminds me of a ballerina’s big pink tutu!

I’ve always had a weakness for animal prints. Although in recent months there has been a flood of “Leopard Print” bags to hit the market just in time for spring and summer for the yearly animal print tradition. But my question is, has it lost its wow factor? Or is it just one of those trends that will come back yearly, regardless.
Every designer under the sun has their own interpretation of the Leopard Print design. And what’s great about this is that there are so many different variations out there of the same idea, so its not exactly like you’re getting the same thing.
Let me near your thoughts.
Here are a couple new bags fresh off the designers rack for spring..

Kate Spade Devote Modern Lissy – $295
A plump little bucket-style tote in embossed leather and 14-karat gold accents.

If you’re a Marilyn Monroe fan, then you just may love this Betsey Johnson “Eye Spy” Canvas Shopper.
The tote is simple but yet so classic. I’d like to believe anything that features Marilyn Monroe winking at you is labeled fabulous no matter how simple it maybe.
The tote comes in two different colors, black and lavender, and this seems to be a problem to me.

Halloween is coming, and skulls seem to be everywhere. Some designers, like Ed Hardy and Alexander McQueen, have been known to put skulls all over their stylish goods. Betsey Johnson has came out with the “Tote-ally Reversible Skull Tote” and it would be super cute to use during October.
I would probably only use this tote in October. When I think of Halloween, I immediately think of bats, vampires, witches, and skulls. I’m a huge fan of skulls, but I’ve never had a handbag that had one on it. Then again, I suppose if you wear a lot of black, or love skulls in general you could use this handbag whenever you wanted.
I would classify this tote as edgy. I don’t think anyone would use this bag when you’re going somewhere fancy, or to a special occasion. This bag would look great with any outfit that features black. Whether, it’s leggings, skinny jeans, or just by wearing some sort of black top this bag would look great.
The coolest part about this bag is that it is reversible. If you ever get sick of having a skull on your bag, you can always reverse it and use the side that features tons of roses. It’s a clever idea because that way you can never get sick of the bag!

The Betsey Johnson “Tote-ally Reversible Skull Tote” can be purchased at Nordstrom for $110. $110 is a steal for this bag, especially if you are looking for a fun bag to use during October. It’s not too expensive, and goes great with the whole Halloween theme.

The Chat: Betsey Skull!

Betsey Johnson has never been one of my favorite designer’s. In fact, most of her design’s always struck me as odd, or perhaps maybe even tacky. I had made myself believe that I hated Betsey Johnson’s designs and after that I pretty much never paid attention to anything she did.
When I came across the Betsey Johnson “Betsey’s Frame Satchel”, I knew my previous misconceptions of her design’s were wrong. I instantly fell in love with the “Betsey’s Frame Satchel” and could even picture myself wearing it.
The “Betsey’s Frame Satchel” is a classic handbag that any woman could wear. It actually looks like a bag that came out of a Juicy Couture catalog. It’s little, cute and can be worn either day or night. The handbag does come in two different colors: black and blush (pink), but I think I love the bag more in black. For one thing black goes with anything, but it also is much easier to match up clothes with than pink. I will admit though, the handbag in pink is adorable and actually makes the ruffles pop out more than the black version does. The black version of the bag does seem to camouflage the ruffle, making that the only “con” of it.
Measurements of the handbag are 15″ wide x 10″ high, which gives you enough room to carry a wallet, sunglasses, cell phone, and makeup inside. The best feature of the handbag is the magnetic closure. No matter where you are, just one little snap and your handbag is closed.
The Betsey Johnson “Betsey’s Frame Satchel” can be purchased at Zappos for $355, which I consider to be reasonable for a cute, designer bag. If you don’t own any Betsey Johnson bags, then this would be a perfect bag to a collection with!

Betsey Johnson Star Wristlet Purse
Leave it to Betsey Johnson and her creativity to design unusual pieces such as this wristlet. It’s called the star wristlet, and its name is pretty self-explanatory. I’ve seen the funkiest accessories coming from Miss. Betsey, including electric guitars and even Betsey Johnson Lips Wristlets. Awkward stuff, but I can’t deny the fact that they’re fun. I can’t really imagine getting much use out of this piece; then again, it’s not a must-have in my book. I could see myself accessorizing with this piece for a night out in town or to some party where carrying my house (and more) isn’t really necessary. Then again, with 5” x 5” x 2” dimensions, this wristlet is totally useless to me as I wouldn’t be able to cram my own cell phone in there! Too small for my phone and way limited room for my cosmetics means that I won’t be wishing upon this star anytime soon. Plus, the $78 price tag is nowhere near convincing. Hmm… if they were to hit the sales rack, maybe I’d pick one up to have as a coin purse, but other than that, it’s a nay for me. What’s your input on these tiny leather goods? Most importantly, would you wear these? You can find these studded goodies in metallic silver or patent black over at shopbop.com
