Vintage Chanel

You can never go wrong with a vintage Chanel, but when it comes to eBay and authenticity you never really know. Some of those sellers can be kinda sketchy. This is why I always turn to What Goes Around Comes Around, founded by college friends Gerard Maione and Seth Weisser. It’s a vintage vault and archive that houses one of the most extensive vintage fashion collections in the world. Vintage aficionados from across the globe, as well as editors, stylists, and top design teams look to WGACA Vintage for the best from fashion’s past. They know their stuff.

Here’s a sampling of what they have available on ShopBop:

Vintage Chanel Le Train bag

Vintage Chanel can be a repulsive to some or a treasure to others. Technically, a vintage find should be in decent condition with an irresistible price tag attached. With that said, these pieces by What Goes Around Comes Around Vintage never really make sense to me.

The piece above has a pretty self-explanatory name; it’s the Le Train bag.

For those who have doubts, this piece is absolutely authentic, regardless of it looking like a novelty item or a really bad knockoff. Coated canvas makes up this typical tote bag and with the simple silver logoed studs, this tote is sure to be a light weight one. What’s your input on the animated wrap around trains, would you call it chic or cheap?

WGACA Vintage Chanel Bag

There are two designer brands that I’m dying to have a bag from and that’s: Chanel & Hermes. I think every fashionista secretly wants a Hermes “Birkin” but every woman out there who loves fashion also has an appreciation for vintage Chanel pieces. When I think of vintage Chanel, I envision Jackie O. and one of the most iconic high end designers that is known for vintage pieces.

When I came across the WGACA Vintage Chanel Bag my mouth literally dropped. I remember seeing my Aunt with vintage Chanel’s and how I always wanted to steal one from her. This one was absolutely gorgeous and it obviously was kept in great shape because it doesn’t even look old!

I’ve always been a fan of golden hardware featured on a black bag, but when it’s on a Chanel bag it’s even better! The chain strap is a Chanel must, if you want the true iconic style of the brand.

My Dream Christmas List – handbag wishlist!

It’s that time of year when I diligently prepare “appropriate” wish lists for in-laws, family and my husband. I take into consideration whether or not it has potential for fulfillment due to perceived frivolity and expense. My in-laws are conservative in lifestyle and while they have three homes, don’t spend on high fashion purchases. My parents have been hit by the recession, so not asking for anything there and my husband thinks I already have too many purses! I tend to buy my own bags most of the time. So, what’s a fashion-minded girl to do? Since I don’t have the chance to ask for my deepest heart’s desire, I thought it would still be fun to prepare my dream wish list.

Vintage Chanel 2.55
Growing up, my mother and I were avid vintage collectors. We collected bags, jewelry and clothing from the 50’s. I learned to appreciate the value of high-quality pieces as enduring and timeless. I never ran across a vintage Chanel. Every time I get close to the new version of this dream, the price jumps up putting it more our of my reach. While I continue to lust after the new styles, I dream of finding a gently used vintage one at a fabulous price. The Holy Grail of a sort. Of course even vintage comes with a price. This vintage black 2.55 is at Shopbop for $3150 showing that had I taken the plunge years or even a decade ago, it would have been a better investment than the stock market.

Nancy Gonzalez Tassled Bag
Every collection deserves an amazing exotic bag. Several years ago, I fell in love with Nancy Gonzalez handbags. It was the first time I’d seen Crocodile bags that were soft and supple rather than hard. I should have taken the plunge then when prices were half of what they are now. The lesson learned is buy what you love and buy less! This beautiful tassled bag showcases beautiful camel croco in a more ladylike style. It is an extremely lare size though, so it is sure to capture loads of attention. It measures 16″ x 9″ x 71/2″. A perfect fit for my collection! $3650.

Chanel Quilted Bubble Bag

Blake Lively was spotted outside a photo shoot in New York’s East Side neighborhood last Friday. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the lovely actress was wearing a “Key to the Cure” T-shirt. The Saks Fifth Avenue exclusive was designed by Donna Karen and 100% of the proceeds are to benefit women cancer charities. She paired this feminine T-shirt with a boyfriend cardigan. Cute! But what really caught my attention, of course, was the gorgeous handbag dangling from her arm. It’s her Chanel Bubble Quilt Accordion Flap Bag!
