Celebrity Style: Victoria Beckham White Hermes Birkin Handbag
As we all know, the white handbag is so in this season. It’s perfect actually. A neutral hue that isn’t difficult to match with your articles of clothing. Just like every girl should own that simple black handbag, I feel the same way towards its compliment, the white handbag. Let me ask you girls this question. What is hotter than a white handbag this season? Why an all white Hermes Birkin of course! If you’re a fan of the French brand Hermes, then you definitely agree with my statement. Unfortunately, right now with my limited student budget, I can only daydream of owning my very own piece of French luxury, unlike the infamous Mrs. Victoria Beckham who is probably one of Hermes top customer of all times. What a diva Mrs. Beckham is, right? Whether she’s stocking up on Rodeo Drive or taking her boys to the park, I swear she always looks fabulous. If you have the extra moolah lying around, I believe putting it towards a Hermes handbag is not a bad idea at all. Their exquisite pieces live up to their name and in the long run; you’ll be carrying one true (and amazing) investment.

Hollywood’s New Bag Queen: Eva Longoria Parker

March 31, 2008
post written by Bag Bliss blogger: Vanessa

Hollywood’s New Bag Queen: Eva Longoria Parker
Hollywood has many bag queens…Victoria Beckham, Jessica Simpson, Kate Moss. Now joining the ranks of these elite Hollywood bag queens is Eva Longoria Parker. She has taken her stylish fashion sense from Wisteria Lane off the screen. Whether she is walking her dog, going to a red carpet even, or in France with Tony, she is always seen carrying one of the season’s hottest bags. Her bags are always the perfect touch to her stylish clothes. They match her shoes and compliment her outfits so well.

In an interview with Instyle.com, she revealed the contents of her 133-square foot closet and it included many, many, many bags including a coveted hot pink crocodile Hermes Birkin bag. Of the Birkin bag, her stylist advised her to “wear it with everything” because it was going to be handed down in her will. She’ll have plenty more to hand down in her will. Every day she is seen with a different bag by a different designer…Gucci, Hermes, Dior, you name it, she’s got it. Looks like a new bag queen is in town!

The Birkin Bag

February 29, 2008
post written by Bag Bliss blogger: Vanessa

The Birkin Bag
“Birkin Bag” …two little words that send every fashionista into a frenzy. The coveted Birkin bag comes with the longest waitlist for any luxury item - up to six years long. It also comes with a hefty price tag. The regular going rate for a Birkin is about $6,000. Even the most elite have trouble getting their hands on a Birkin Bag.

Many unenlightened people may ask “why a waitlist?”…“why so much money?” But only those who have been up close and personal with the Hermes Birkin bag can really begin to understand what all the hype is about. This bag radiates quality with its fine leather, precise lines, handmade details, and immaculate interior. Every detail of this bag, down to the stitching, is perfect. So much handwork, detail, and fine quality are put into these bags. They can’t help but stand apart from the other masses of factory created bags. With the perfect size and style the Birken can accompany you anywhere with anything…if only you are so lucky to have one.

Birkin Bags are not simply fashion accessories but coveted collector items. It is a fashion time-piece carried for years and passed down to daughters and granddaughters. It is an item that exudes elegance, style, and affluence. Men have antique stop watches and women have the Birkin Bag. Simply put, the Birkin bag is a classic time-piece that only very few are blessed with the honors of owning.

Beatrice Amblard Handbag Designer

February 25, 2008

Beatrice Amblard Handbag Designer
Recently discovered the works of designer Beatrice Amblard, skilled handbag designer.

About Beatrice Amblard: April in Paris is both the boutique and workshop of master leather artisan Beatrice Amblard. The sleek, sun-drenched location on colorful Clement Street is well known to Bay Area devotees for its extraordinary custom accessories. All items are made by hand using centuries-old traditional methods, and every item is one-of-a-kind.

Amblard has more than 20 years of experience in her rarified trade. Born in France, she was 16 when she first visited the famous Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Paris.

Amblard enrolled for two years, and immediately upon receiving her diploma, was hired by Hermes in Paris as an apprentice. After four years, she came to Los Angeles to study English for six months. Hermes then invited her to San Francisco as “Ambassador” to the new San Francisco store, which opened in 1987. Amblard was only the second Hermes employee to come to the U.S. to work. After working on the infamous “Kelly” bag and custom designing small custom leather goods for fourteen years, Beatrice started her own line, April in Paris at a small workshop South of Market, where she built up a loyal following.
In 2000, Amblard opened April in Paris, a boutique and workshop on Clement Street. Beatrice is the only Hermes designer to open her own store in the U.S.

Amblard works with three or four tanners, all of whom are French. Only the finest skins are used, including French calf, ostrich, stingray and alligator. Amblard can request dye lots, which are done specifically for April in Paris.

Amblard is best known for her custom handbags, usually finished with the traditional saddle stitch, the same way it was done 200 years ago. All of her bags are marked with her logo, an 18-karat yellow or rose gold or sterling silver bee. The bee is the shortened version of her name and is what everyone calls her—“Bea.”

Amblard also custom designs briefcases, wallets, watchstraps, belts, coin purses, checkbook holders, Palm Pilot cases, desk accessories and anything else that a customer desires, including big items like furniture and car interiors. Amblard also has a line of jewelry and object, incorporating her bee logo. Items include pillboxes, money clips, key chains, bookmarks, rings, earrings and belt buckles. The only items without her bee are the sterling silver belt buckles.

The fun for the customer is the process of selecting the item, the leather, the color and the mixing of colors, the size, the detailing and the pleasure of working directly with Beatrice. A large stock of inventory skins is on the premises, and there is also an enormous array of swatch cards to choose from. Beatrice Amblard’s work is so coveted; there is a three-month wait for a custom handbag. If a customer simply can’t wait, there are plenty of beautiful handmade bags and accessories already in stock and for sale at the boutique.

Prices range from $175 for a custom calf leather watchband, $2800 for a custom calf handbag to $6,000 for a custom alligator bag. In the fashion world, where almost everything is made by machine, handcrafted, custom leather accessories are the ultimate luxury. It would be difficult to find more astonishingly beautiful leather accessories than at Beatrice Amblard’s April in Paris.

WWD: Top 12 Designer Handbag Brands of 2007

WWD: Top 12 Designer Handbag Brands of 2007
WWD recently published their top 12 picks for 2007, and I am so disappointed. I mean who did they interview? Label whores? When I think of last years best sellers, or even memorable bags that could have been found on the lists of thousands of handbag fans, I wouldn’t pick a bag by some of the designers below. Coach number 1? How can that be. And Ralph Lauren? The only bag that comes to mind is the birkin-looking Ricky bag. I have nothing against the brands below, I’m a fan of a couple, but I don’t think this list is very accurate.

Bottega Veneta Ebano Intrecciato & Hermes Powder Blue Organizers

December 18, 2007

Bottega Veneta Ebano Intrecciato & Hermes Powder Blue Organizers
In need of a last minute gift idea? Check out these stylishly handy organizers by Bottega Veneta and Hermes. Can you really ever go wrong with something from these designer houses? Sure alot of people are going digital these days by storing information on their pda, cell or laptop, but who cares. You would have to be insane to not want one of these pieces. Also, just think whenever they pop open their designer bag and pull out their little organizer they will think of you. . .

What I love most about these organizers is they’re chic yet not overdecorated with signature monogramming. For years Hermes and Bottega Veneta have been using the same techniques, making quality logo-less handbags and accessories - that is their signature.

Can you spot the error?

December 14, 2007

The Daily Mail put together a collage of Victoria Beckham and her designer handbags, well they tried. Can you spot the mistake? Think about it…

First of all take a look at the second image in the first row. Fendi?!?! She’s only photographed with that bag like everyday.. it’s her Louis Vuitton Lockit. Oh and that’s not all. Take a glance at the second picture in the second row. Fendi again?!?! Good lord, how could you mistake her mouth watering pink Ostrich Hermes Birkin bag for a Fendi?

I know, the editors over at tdm are only human, we all make mistakes.. I wont hold it against them ;)

The Hermes Padlock Handbag

December 2, 2007

The Hermes Padlock Handbag
This lock-styled bag isn’t new to Hermes and doesn’t nearly receive as much credit as the internationally recognizable designer handbags such as the Blondie, Plume, Constance, Birkin, or Kelly bag, but I love the simple box-shaped look. This bag features no external hardware and may be opened by pressing the hidden button hiding beneath the skin located on the top.

The emerald green gem padlock pictured above is from the Spring 2006 Hermes Runway Collection. Contact Hermes for more information @ 800.441.4488

Did you Know? Fact on Hermes Alligator Kelly Bag

November 15, 2007

Did you Know? Fact on Hermes Alligator Kelly Bag
Fun designer handbag fact of the day - did you know it takes not one, but two alligators to create the Hermes Kelly handbag. The best exotic skin is found on the jowls and tummy of the gator. The belly is used for the body of the bag and the neck skin becomes the sides.

Katie Jordan Price Loves her ‘Fake’ Leopard Hermes Birkin Bag

October 16th, 2007

Katie Jordan Price Loves her ‘Fake’ Leopard Hermes Birkin Bag
Katie ‘Jordan’ Price (aka Katrina Alexandra Infield) made an appearance at Lewes Crown Court earlier this week as her ex-nanny went on trial accused of falsely claiming benefits and stealing from the mum of three. Bag for the occasion, was a replica leopard-print Hermes Birkin Bag. I don’t get it. Lord knows she could afford the real thing. The Daily Mail reported that Price and her husband Peter Andre were ranked at #2, second only to David Beckham and Victoria Beckham and that their fortune weighs in at $60 million and rising. Price currently stands as one of the richest women in Britain. So what’s up with the fake Hermes Birkin Bag?

Accessories De Mademoiselle: The Inspired-by Hermes Birkin Bag

September 13, 2007

Accessories De Mademoiselle: The Inspired-by Hermes Birkin Bag
pictured above: American Actress Meredith Monroe (best-known for her role as Andie McPhee on Dawson’s Creek) was recently spotted with the Accessories De Mademoiselle Purse.

We here at Bag Bliss understand that money doesn’t grow on trees and not everyone can afford luxury designer handbags like the Hermes Birkin, which will set you back about $8k for just a basic leather version. This is why many designers try their best to produce handbags that imitate the features and characteristics, without crossing the knockoff line into the replica zone. Those bags that are considered inspired-by are, in most occasions, found for a fraction of what the designer bag would cost. This bag for instance is the Hermes-Birkin-inspired bag by Accessories De Mademoiselle (a handbag company out of Tokyo Japan) which can be discovered at yoox carrying a price tag of only $378.

Victoria Beckham and her Hermes Baccara Crocodile Clutch

September 12, 2007

Victoria Beckham and her Hermes Baccara Crocodile Clutch
The “Posh” Victoria Beckham was spotted at fashion week dressed in a bold Oscar de la Renta green and black mini, wearing Givency heels, spotting oversized sunglasses from her own DVB line, and toting around her vibrant emerald green Hermes Baccara Crocodile Clutch.

I’ve never seen Victoria with this gem-colored Baccara before. But that’s not too surprising since she has one of the biggest Hermes collections in the whole world (not exaggerating).

Naomi Campbell will design a purse for Hermes

July 30, 2007

N.C. pictured with her swift-leather potiron (orange) palladium-hardware spring ‘07 Lindy Handbag

Naomi Campbell will design a purse for Hermes
The Birkin bag was named in honor to Jane Birkin, the Kelly bag was named in honor to Princess Grace Kelly of Monaco, and now the Campbell bag to be named after maid-beater Naomi Campbell (?). Interesting if true, but that is in fact the rumor circulating throughout the bag-community.

side note: I am unsure if the name of the new bag is going to be named “Campbell.” This news is still fresh and no details have been published yet in the news.

Stay tuned for an up date….
