Kooba Eden Bag
Wow, what is up with Kooba lately? Everywhere I turn, it’s Kooba this and Kooba that! Even celebrities like Rihanna have been spotted with Kooba bags. Geez… aren’t people tired of it already? Well, no, apparently they are not. When I’m out shopping at my favorite department store, Kooba is the name I her women asking for. To tell you the truth, though, I never really was a huge Kooba fan. But they have had some pretty cool bags lately. Oh and metallics! Even if you’re not a Kooba fan, you can never go wrong with metallics!

So what can I say about the Kooba Eden bag? I love the gathers on top and the decorative stitching on the edges. I’m not really sure what to thing about the all those flaps though. I also wonder how easy it would be to get the bag open with one hand, since it has that strap that comes over the top. I guess it sort of reminds me of something you’d see from another designer. Marc Jacobs maybe? No? Oh well, maybe not. At least the bag is this really pretty pewter color. And they paired it beautifully with antiqued, satin brass hardware!

Designer Purse Deal: The Kooba Nina & Meredith Handbag
Finally eluxury updated their stock of unsold designer handbags in the sale section by adding a range of purses priced up to 60% off. A couple of the gems in the crowd that left me questioning how it’s possible this bag didn’t sell out last year when it was introduced are both by Kooba, the small sized Nina and the large Meredith large shoulder bag. Both the pieces are dressed in a supple Italian lambskin with contoured seams and gathered details on front. This bag also features polished brass hardware, rolled leather handles, a removable chunky link chain shoulder strap with clasp attachments, and a flap top with push-lock closure. Also both are priced at about $200 off retail.

A couple other totally noteworthy bags priced to sell that you must check out if in the need to save some cash (it’s almost the holiday season) include the fabulous Dior Gaucho Croc Embroidered Medium Saddle Bag on sale for $1,536 (was $2,560), Gwen Steffani’s new east-west style L.A.M.B. The Kooba Natasha Mirror Handbag

You thought the Louis Vuitton Miroir Bag was a shinny piece of arm candy. Check out Kooba’s runner up, the reflecting Natasha purse.

The Natasha is available in two versions. Either she comes dressed in a reflecting silver suit with silver-tone hardware, or in all gold with matching tone hardware. All the bags feature quilted shoulderstraps, turn-lock closure at the mouth of the bag, and if the Natasha needs a little extra room there are turn-locks on the sides that expand the bags size. The interior tummy of the bag is fully lined with 2 interior pockets. Dimensions approx. 10” width x 9.75” height x 16.5” length.

Which means it’s the time of the day when you are sitting at your computer desk (or home office, etc) and you take a break from your long hectic day to do some online shopping. You probably don’t have all the time you would like to browse around for the best deal out there, so that’s what I am for.

Currently (for not much longer) on the sale block for $475 via eluxury is the plump Kooba Ginger bag with woven shoulder strap and braided drawstring tassel detail. You will not find this deal at Saks the bag is full price of $635 there.

Yay or Nay? Personally I would save my money and put it towards another bag. The metallic is an eyesore and the dangling signature wood heart and ‘J’ charm isn’t my style.

Regularly this Juicy Couture bag retails for $325, but right now it’s on sale for $161.90 via Saks. This Jute Superstar bag is also on sale over at eluxury, although the sale tag price is slightly more, ringing in at $227.

Every time I look in the clearance racks I usually come across Kate Spade handbags. Usually I drift past the Kate Spade section without even a second glance, but today it was different. Today, I discovered the Kate Spade Rio Gemma on sale for a little bit over $100 off the retail price. I adore this vibrant little Kate Spade accessory. I know (I know), I used the words “adore” and “Kate Spade” in the same sentence - very rare.

The Collect Kate Spade handbags are, on same occasions on my most wanted list and other times I nominate the collection for Ugly Friday (haven’t done ugly Friday in a while), but what I truly dislike about the label is their nylon crap. Just like Prada, Kate Spade has their overpriced nylon collection as well.

Features of this bag are a double zip top with three compartments. Closes with zipper and snap button. Antique brass hardware. Double straps, with 7″ strap drop. Footed bottom. The bag also has Hilary Duff’s signature on in (I don’t know why she would do that)

Kooba | Ginger Handbag
New Kooba collection just arrived for spring 05! Maybe it’s the plump shape, maybe it’s the braided woven leather belt, whatever it is I love this new Kooba Small Ginger in glazed chestnut. I have no Kooba bags in my purse collection however this is one that I wouldn’t mind getting my hands on.

For $15 more you can get the same bag in the larger more roomy size. That sounds so minimal, but the retail price of the small Kooba Ginger is $635 so you are going to be paying a steep price for whatever size you choose. If you are feeling a bit more conservative and want to save a couple hundred the check out the similar chic Kooba Haydon Small Shoulder Bag.

Not all bags are created equal. I was on a mission today to find inexpensive bags that aren’t considered too “cheap” looking and resemble or share similar characteristics in someway to a more expensive designer bag. Trying to filter out the cheap bags from the quality bags takes some in-depth reading on reviews, posts and descriptions. So these few bags pictured below are ones that I came across, now it’s up to you guys to decide which ones you like more. Quality vs. quantity, which would you choose?

Fendi Leather Spy Bag vs. Braided Trim Hobo

The super fabulous Fendi Spy Bag is made with rich leather topped off with double woven top handles and topped off with a wristlet accent. I think that every purse fashionista / bagista has or wants to get their hands on a Fendi Spy bag. I have seen so many copied / replicated / knockoff Fendi bags it kind of sucks the excitement out of getting one of these. Basically let me just say this to those who want an authentic Fendi Spy bag. . . If you find what appears to be an authentic Fendi Spy bag on eBay, or any other site and it’s selling for under $500 then its fake. Fendi does not sell on street corners, street vendors, in the back of someone’s trunk, at purse parties, or on sites were the bags are advertised as “similar to the Fendi”, “looks like a Fendi”, and of coarse “replica, fake, not authentic, copied, knockoff”.

If you want a bag that looks like a Fendi Spy bag but don’t want to dish out all that money, then check out the Braided Trim Hobo.

No waiting lists or getting electronically hit with the “no longer in stock” message. Not a counterfeit and equally beautiful this hobo is a perfect example of quantity vs quality. This bag retails for only $40 while the Fendi Spy (the one pictured first) retails for $2,075. You can buy 52 of the Braided Trim Hobo for the price of Spy Bag. I don’t know about you, but those numbers stun me.

I’m pretty sure you all see the resemblance here. What I instantly spotted was the overall shape and boho style are very similar and both of these bags come in pretty much the size. Additional glossy features of this Vieta Fashion bag that in my opinion remind me of the Kooba Sienna are the whipstitch handles, the two side pouch pockets with draw-string closure, the leather structure, hardware / accents and the magnetic snap closure.

This bag is retailing for only $38.99 at Overstock.com!

I have seen and heard mixed reviews and opinions on this new service that makes it possible to carry the latest “must have handbags”. Honestly though, I have never heard anything bad from their service from people who have actually tried it. Only those who have heard of this service and give their opinion on whether or not they would try it and why. This service isn’t for everyone. I personally would choose to purchase the bag from the store, just so my money goes towards something that I will own. I guess you can consider this renting handbag service on the same level as any other service, like paying rent for example. You pay to use this handbag service for a monthly fee like you would pay rent. With both services you don’t keep what you are paying for. Also if you damage the property (handbags or a house) then you have to pay a fee.
