It seems that all anyone ever talks about is IT bags. So what exactly makes an IT bag and IT bag? After doing a bit of research, it appears as though the term was coined in the 1990s. During this time, the handbag market was experiencing explosive growth. Designers needed to come up with a design that would allow them to stand out in this seemingly never-ending sea of handbags. Producing a design that would become an IT bag was like the holy grail of the handbag world. But oddly enough, we still don’t really know what makes an IT bag an IT bag. Sure an IT bag is something that everyone must own, but why is that exactly? There are a lot of different possibilities, but I don’t think we can place our finger on just one.
And exactly what does all of this have to do with this handbag I have pictured here? Hopefully it is obvious! Meet the Longchamp ‘It Bag’ Horizontal Tote. A playful spin on the whole IT bag phenomenon, this otherwise plain looking tote has “Ceci est un IT BAG” written right across the front. Well, it technically may not be an IT bag per se. However, I think it would make a nice tote for all those casual summer activities. You can pick one up at Nordstrom, where it is currently available in orange and retails for $340.

So you want a new handbag for Christmas this year, but you don’t feel the need to splurge much? I’ve had this problem quite a few times, except my dilemma consists of wanting a new purse, but the bag fund is low. Personally, I like this bag. I think it would make a great kick-around tote or even a travel piece with such large dimensions (19” x 12.5” x 7”). Yes, the price is great, but wait, you can custom it even more to your likings as this Longchamp tote can be personalized. Request a complimentary embroidering of your initials for a nice touch of your own. Just do keep in mind that once embroidered, this item cannot be returned. 60th Anniversary Longchamp Logo Print Handbag
I like to say that some designer’s like to look at the competition to get their ideas or inspirations for that matter. One handbag that always seems to have other designers replicating the idea but with their own twist is the Louis Vuitton Speedy. Another handbag that looks similar to the Louis Vuitton Speedy is the Longchamp Logo Print Handheld Satchel. It may have been a rip off of the Speedy but it’s actually quite pretty with the vintage, equestrian-inspired print featured on the handbag. It appears to be about the same size of a Louis Vuitton Speedy 30, giving a bagista more than enough room to fit her prized possessions in.
The Longchamp Logo Print Satchel was made for the celebration of the brand’s 60th anniversary and is actually a very cute bag with a great price. A price may I add that is not that high for a handbag that was made in France, the land of fabulous designers. The handbag is priced at $615, just $85 less than a Louis Vuitton Speedy 30. Most bagista’s love Louis Vuitton but if you want a change the Longchamp Logo Print Handheld Satchel is a great addition to any collection. I’ve never paid much attention to Longchamp but this handbag has given me a new insight to the brand.
