Whether or not I’ve experienced a mild or harsh winter, I am always, always, always (get the point?) so ready to see some vibrant, fresh and even soft colors for Spring. Just give me color!
Botkier’s 2012 product line gives us everything we need to start and finish the season with fresh styles and colors in addition to tried and true black and brown. A more restrained use of hardware like zippers, tassels and and metal trims compliment beautifully shaped bags in so many styles, it will make your head spin. Colorblocking is used in ways that compliment the shape and style of the bags too. Clutches, hobos, satchels reign supreme. If you need a satchel, it’s going to be very hard to choose. I already have my eye on several favorites!

The Leon small satchel in Garden green with a tiny pop of cobalt blue is a great choice for Spring & Summer. It’s lady like shape isn’t redundant with everything else on the market. A top handle and shoulder strap make it convenient. This bag may end up being your go to daytime bag. It’s lady like with a little bit of a pop! Also available in a hobo and satchel version with shades of persimmon, noir and tobacco.

When I first glanced at the bag you see here, I wasn’t really sure what I was looking at. This is a bit embarrassing, but I thought it was some sort of “ink blot” design. You know, like the ink blot tests a psychiatrist might use. Then I realized this was a bag from Karl Lagerfeld’s new line that just debuted (and is being exclusively offered) at Net-A-Porter. Haha!
The new line, appropriately titled KARL, is all about downtown style. KARL offers a great selection of clothing, shoes, and handbags. The best part? Mr. Lagerfeld has brought us all of this at a price everyone can afford. Most items fall within the $100 to $400 range!

As I get older, my fashion tastes are starting to lean toward the more classy, sophisticated and timeless pieces. Before our economy took a dive I always bought handbags I loved, for no reason at all. I didn’t care if they matched my wardrobe or not, if I liked a purse I bought it. Now I’m more sensible, for me to purchase a handbag these days I have to convince myself I will carry it non-stop. Being able to use a handbag year round is a big factor for me today or I simply won’t purchase it.

When I heard about new designer Yiliy, I was instantly intrigued. The name was catchy and definitely sounded different. Then as soon as I looked at the gallery of handbags the “Le Matin” instantly caught my eye. Black, golden hardware, and classy, which we all know is my favorite kind of handbag. I could totally envision myself using this handbag constantly. It’s simplicity at it’s best. Nothing I love more than a beautiful handbag that’s not too trendy but has the ability to be iconic. Rebecca Minkoff started her career off with the lovely “Morning After Bag” which is now one of the most sought after handbags in the fashion scene. I really believe, the “Le Matin” will be the bag in Yilin Chen’s collection that will be iconic.

The Westward Collection by Kate Spade is bringing out some very attractive pieces at the moment. In case you aren’t familiar with the Collection, Westward is a collaboration between Kate Spade and designers Meritt Elliott and Emily Current. So far, they’re specializing in some of the most chic travel accessories you can add to your collection. The smallest piece of the assortment is the fun and dazzling clutch of The Ingenue Clutch. What’s not to love about this sequined beauty?

It seems to be a trend at the moment for handbags to look like brief cases. A lot of designers are getting in on the trend and I’m liking it. I’ve never been one for trends but this trend is a bit of a mystery to me. I love the whole idea of a bag looking like a hidden purse. Kind of make people think you are on your way to work only to find out that it’s your bag.
The Westward Collection from Kate Spade New York “Wanderlust” Satchel is a gorgeous example of a briefcase turned purse. It doesn’t look like it would be a handbag and I loved it. If I saw someone down the street carrying this bag I would instantly think books or a lap top was it not a wallet, makeup and other goodies.

Monica Botkier is one of my favorite handbag designers of all time. Her classic like the Trigger is an instant star to many, eye-catching and stunning. So when I saw the news over on WWD that one of her designs was copied by the Kardashian’s I had to pass the news along.

Did you know that we recently added a Shop Section to our site? Oh yes we did! It’s a small selection of our top designer bag picks that we hand selected as our favorites! If we don’t like a bag, you’re not going to see it on our list.
