Runway Spring Pick: Marni Grape Slouchy Shoulder Bag
by Deysa on March 31, 2009 16 comments
I am loving anything with bright bold colors for Spring, including the Slouchy Shoulder Bag by Marni which I totally adore at the moment. It’s the kind of handbag I typically wouldn’t carry, as I tend to stick to neutral and boring handbags instead. I just can’t help but admit how flirty and fun this piece looks.
In handbags, I admire any with soft smooshy leather on them, the slouchier they come, the better! Just take a look at the texture of the leather found on this Marni, it’s as if it were made out of Play-Dough or something. Its crescent shaped design is playful; dress this up with cute summer dresses or pair this with your favorite pair of denim jeans.

Like most Marni accessories, this is cheerful, eye-catching and looks like a great year round piece. Found on this shoulder bag is silver toned hardware, a turn lock fastening at the top of the single handle, and a large zip top opening. This measures in at 14” x 9” x 6” and currently carries a four digit price tag of $1,410. Ladies what’s your input on this Marni, do you like this?

Diane von Furstenberg Philomena Stud Clutch

Ahh… studs, they’re so in right now. You find them embellishing almost anything, including outerwear, denim, jewelry, and Diane von Furstenberg’s latest, the Philomena Stud Clutch.
We all know what detail takes the show on this piece, but going beyond the studs, you’ll find rose pink metallic leather whose texture appears crackled and glimmery. Right off the bat, it’s metallic, and we all know how fairly timeless our metallic accessories can be. Moving on to its structure, I love how this isn’t your typical itty-bitty clutch where you’ll find yourself cramming your essentials into. The main compartment is actually the entire clutch opened vertically, while the fold over front flap is more for show. Does anybody really want to carry a vertically structured clutch anyways, (think Foley + Corinna Bar Clutch Bag). I think this DVF is cute and semi-girly with a rocker chic edge to it. Ladies what’s your input on the Philomena clutch?
Some rows of stud up front, a couple of studs in the back and more than plenty of gold plated hardware, found everywhere. Measuring in at 6.5” x 11” x 1”, shop Diane von Furstenberg via the Internet at: shopbop.com

The Hermes Padlock Handbag

The Hermes Padlock Handbag
This lock-styled bag isn’t new to Hermes and doesn’t nearly receive as much credit as the internationally recognizable designer handbags such as the Blondie, Plume, Constance, Birkin, or Kelly bag, but I love the simple box-shaped look. This bag features no external hardware and may be opened by pressing the hidden button hiding beneath the skin located on the top.
The emerald green gem padlock pictured above is from the Spring 2006 Hermes Runway Collection. Contact Hermes for more information @ 800.441.4488

Update: Marc Jacobs + Richard Prince for Louis Vuitton Handbag Project
Pictured above: Naomi Campbell on the spring 2008 runway & MJ w/ his Sponge Bob Bag
A couple months ago we here at Bag Bliss informed you about the collaboration project between luxury French fashion house Louis Vuitton and artist / photographer Richard Prince, and now the photo’s of this collaboration are finally up for viewing.
Like the lively fresh pastel color variation? Marc-ey Marc’s inspiration: “I’m a fan of SpongeBob SquarePants—and for all I know, so is Rei Kawakubo, because that’s where our color came from!” – Marc Jacobs in an interview with Style.
Here are a few detailed pictures.. Tell me what you guys think…

So let me here it? What do you guys think of this new Marc Jacobs + Richard Prince for Louis Vuitton Handbag Project for spring ‘08? Any of you planning on getting on the waiting list for any of these new purses when the new year rolls around?
Personally, I’m craving the yellow oversized sparkle-framed clutch with the drawing on the front (2nd one pictured) and the lovely blue suede flap shoulder bag with the spray paint layered text technique (5th one pictured).
Marc by Marc Jacobs Runway Wham Handbag Spotted on Sale

Marc by Marc Jacobs Runway Wham Handbag Spotted on Sale
The Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall Runway Wham Handbag has been spotted in the hall of purse-rejects over at eluxury, which by the way I am blaming mostly on the photo pictured on the elux site. Why? Well besides the picture looking completely boring, it makes the bag look different than in real life – the body looks petite and the straps look so un-proportionally long. So, I attempted to dazzle you with my (weak I know) Photoshop skills to show you what this little Wham Bag can really do.
Pictured above from left to right is Snejana Onopka, Han Jin, and Shannon Click on the fall 2006 Runway, and as you can see the bag doesn’t look so disfigured. On the eluxury site the bag looks like its waist level but when compared to the models above it looks much sorter than that. Additionally if the straps are too long for you then you can always wear it at an angle, like Snejana.
The Details: The Marc by Marc Jacobs Runway Wham Handbag with its soft grained leather body and signature MJ antiqued-silver metal hardware features a zip top closure with long leather pull that slides open to reveal the bright red floral cotton lining interior. Measurements: 17″ x 8.5″ x 6″. This bag can be spotted at eluxury carrying the sale price tag of $249 (marked down from $358). Now I warn you, there is only a few left of these bags then they will be gone forever.
