The position at Christian Dior has been filled! Dior has selected Belgian designer Raf Simmons to replace John Galliano as the new artistic director. His first show for the renowned fashion house will be this July in Paris.
That’s the news making fashion headlines today.

It’s official! We have yet another “new” trend for Spring 2011! It is, of course, Color Blocking! It may come as a surprise to you though that when I normally think of color blocking, I think of each item being a single solid color. For example, you might pair a solid hot pink shift dress with a sunny yellow handbag. But I guess there is another way to do color blocking and that is having more than one “block” of color on the same item. I have seen this done with articles of clothing before, particularly dresses. But there are now quite a few handbags floating around out there, so I thought it would be fun to explore this trend a little further!
What I have found most interesting about this trend is that color blocking can be done in just about any color scheme. Not only will you find tons of bright color combinations, but you will find neutrals as well! Also keep an eye out for color blocking in black and white! Very art deco-esque! Below I have a sample of what the color blocking trend has to offer!

The House of Dior has made a debut this season with handbags that fit the festive occasions. It’s been a while since Dior adds something new to their classic accessories. One of smallest from the bunch this season is the Delices Gaufre Cannage Mini bag, adorable and all; arrives with a dainty detail that’s sure to catch some attention.
It’s been years since I took French classes in high school, but as I recall, Delices either means delicious or delightful. From the looks of this mini drawstring, I’m going with delightful. Black lambskin leather with Dior’s signature Cannage stitching is featured on this pouch. Although its classic stitching designs are nothing new by Dior, the adorned chain adds some delight to this miniature classic. Those charming pearls give off an appearance of elegance and glam, which are sure to add the perfect finish to any of your evening looks. The fact that this pouch is flexible and not as structured as your typical boxy glimmer clutch makes this a winner in my book. Quilted and gathered with charming details… this is definitely a Christian Dior piece that doesn’t disappoint.

In recent years, the handbag world has been loving fun, edgy bags covered in studs and fringe. Shapes have been varied from slouchy hobos, trapezoids, rounds and so much variety. And while Chanel and Brikin are still quintessential “IT” bags, there has been less focus on the lady bag. Structure, polish and top-handles are key components of a lady bag. We are familiar with Dior “Lady Dior” bags and Valentino floral bags that beg to be carried in lady-like style. With chic glamorous sheath dresses and uptown look being one of the major fashion trends, it’s no surprise that we are seeing more lady-like bags on the radar.
Reed Krakoff’s introduction last month gave us lady-like styling with masculine and more modern architectural elements. The 510 Tote in amazing rich teal is a satchel that has clean lines, smooth rich leathers and a modern proper-ness about it that inspires one to be sharply dress and head off to lunch with the most prominent of the “who’s who”. I adore this bag and for only $1150, it’s a find that’s incredibly well made and quite lovely.

Just found this flier in my mail box saying that everything over at Bluefly is on sale for an additional 10% off – but it’s for today only! Shoes, jewelry, and accessories too, but because this is the bag blog, I am of course obsessing over all the bags on sale. And believe me, there are a bunch of great deals!

It’s the lovely Top Handle Lady Dior tote, a true beauty with tasteful detailing brought to you by the famous French house of Christian Dior. I’ve always admired the House and their classic and feminine accessories, though I feel like this ladylike style although attractive, wouldn’t suit my personal style. When this specific style first premiered seasons back, my first impression was “how lovely”, but now with a splash of bold colors to choose from, I find this look much more intriguing.

Abbie Cornish loves her Lady Dior Medium Bag! The 27-year-old Aussie actress was spotted in Paris last Sunday. She is there shooting new scenes for W.E. (Madonna’s new film). Abbie looks so sleek and put together! I love her tone-on-tone black lace dress, black cardigan, and black pumps. Her short, dark hair looks so cute and I love her red lipstick! To top off her look, Abbie chose to carry her Lady Dior Medium Bag in (of course) black! This bag is such an iconic piece. This Cannage lambskin classic features a Dior logo letter charm and short double handles. I love the classic, structured shape. It looks awesome paired with Abbie’s all back outfit, but you could certainly wear it with some color. It is the perfect way to add class to just about any outfit! Don’t like the top handle design? Don’t worry, this beauty comes complete with an optional shoulder strap!

Just in! After getting word that YOOX just received a huge new shipment of designer handbags, I had to go and take a peek.. so many gorgeous bags marked up to, 90% off retail. It’s pretty insane. My favorite two picks from the 30+ pages: Dior Signature Quilted Tote and the Fendi Embossed Baguette Purse.
This Christian Dior Signature Quilted Tote has to be one of the best deals on the web for an authentic never worn Dior purse. It’s just insane. The regular price of this tote is in the neighborhood of a thousand and up. This classy classic can be found for only $668.
