Walk Like A Lady – bags on the radar
In recent years, the handbag world has been loving fun, edgy bags covered in studs and fringe. Shapes have been varied from slouchy hobos, trapezoids, rounds and so much variety. And while Chanel and Brikin are still quintessential “IT” bags, there has been less focus on the lady bag. Structure, polish and top-handles are key components of a lady bag. We are familiar with Dior “Lady Dior” bags and Valentino floral bags that beg to be carried in lady-like style. With chic glamorous sheath dresses and uptown look being one of the major fashion trends, it’s no surprise that we are seeing more lady-like bags on the radar.
Reed Krakoff’s introduction last month gave us lady-like styling with masculine and more modern architectural elements. The 510 Tote in amazing rich teal is a satchel that has clean lines, smooth rich leathers and a modern proper-ness about it that inspires one to be sharply dress and head off to lunch with the most prominent of the “who’s who”. I adore this bag and for only $1150, it’s a find that’s incredibly well made and quite lovely.

The rejuvenated brand, MCM, offers us their Sportivo in a beautiful rich black pebbled grain leather with embossed logos. Although a little on the soft side for a lady-bag, it carries like as a proper bag should. At $975, it’s an instant classic for your wardrobe.

Valentino offers a smorgasbord of lady-like options, but the Pleated Patent Bowler with oversized bow trim really says it all for me. Vibrant color, beautiful trimmings, a petite 5″ drop handle, silver-tone feet protecting the bag. This gem is desperate to be displayed in all its glory. Retails for $995.

Nancy Gonzalez handbags are stunning and lustrous. I adore how the richness of the exotic skins comes through. Vibrant colors and natural tones have a depth to them that isn’t often duplicated. The tassled satchel with 8″ drop handles really has to be seen to be appreciated. The richness of the color and luxurious quality of this bag simply does not come through in a photo. If properly cared for, it will give you a lifetime of luxurious pleasure. Rings in at $3650.

Another great classic, available in a plethora of vibrant colors is the Dior “Lady Dior” handbag. Gracing the arm of socialites and celebrities everywhere, you’ll have a hard time deciding between all of the amazing colors. But, I’m drawn to the rich sapphire blue this season. Also available in white, black, khaki, red, framboise and beige! $2450.

The only one I’m really obsessed with is the reed one. I’m glad he’s designing under his own label now. Beautiful bags. Eager for what the future holds!
**drools** over the Reed Krakoff!!
The bags above aren’t my style, but I do have an appreciation for them. The designs are so classy-chic :)
I love all the bags you picked above. So chic!
I have the Dior one. Actually I’ve had it for atleast 6 years now and always get complements. It’s a classic!
Am I the only one who thinks the Reed Krakoff tote is Proenza meets Hermes???? Still love it though.
Great picks! I love them all. I like the classic look of Dior and Reed Krakoff bags. Valentino, I don’t know, I feel like their bags are more trendy and go on sale alot more than other brands.
