Inspired by Claire Jane Peacock Feather Clutch

After 17 years of working in the film industry, Claire Jane Vranian decided to redirect her creativity. In 2009, she launched her own handbag line called Inspired by Claire Jane. Making the switch from producing commercials and TV shows to designing handbags is certainly an interesting story. But I am finding myself more interested in the handbags themselves. This emerging designer is known for using feathers… lots of feathers. One piece that particularly caught my eye is the Inspired by Claire Jane Peacock Feather Clutch.

When it comes to feathers on handbags, my feelings tend to be mixed. This clutch isn’t too bad though. I think it helps that it is a clutch and not a full sized handbag. That would be feather overload! What I like about this clutch is that it has a very vintage-y feeling to it. I love the black chiffon rosettes adorning the upper portion of this clutch. The edges are raw and they remind me of those dresses you see completely covered in fabric rosettes. I love the vintage-inspired rhinestone brooch as well. It reminds me of something you would find in your grandma’s jewelry box. And, of course, the feathers. No one could miss those feathers. I love the bright turquoise and how it fades into a darker green. Unfortunately, the word “peacock” seems to be only describing the color of this clutch. That’s too bad because I think it would look a 100 times more awesome with actual peacock feathers. Oh well, for only $300, I suppose this isn’t too bad.
