Lauren Merkin Molly Chevron Cork Clutch
Lauren Merkin has been hiding in the shadows lately. I see clutches from this designer often, but nothing has really stood out from the typical designs I have come to expect from her. I spotted some animal prints, but that was about as exciting as things were going to get. That is, until now! I stumbled across the Lauren Merkin Molly Clutch and… WOW!
What was it exactly that catch my eye? It was the very unusual coloring. When I first laid eyes on this clutch, it sort of reminded me of petrified wood. The colors are muted and watercolor-like in appearance. Plus the ring-like pattern reminds me of rings inside a tree. I almost thought this piece should be sitting on display in a natural history museum. This clutch isn’t made of petrified wood though (that would be heavy!), but cork instead. This isn’t the first time I’ve come across a cork handbag. The material is unusual, but not unheard of. What I find interesting is the added rings of color. Now that is practically unheard of! But this unique look is definitely growing on me. It has this great earthy feel to it, perfect for the bagista wanting to capture that nature vibe!

I definitely see what you mean about the petrified wood look, but it works so well!
Just kinda obsessed with this look. It’s very vintage – chic
I like the petrified wood look, it’s unique and very different.
I don’t really like teh chevron, but i like the cork look.
I like this also, but wish it wasn’t so expense. I rarely wear clutches, only during the summer really, so I probably wouldn’t spend so much money on something so short lived.
I’ve never seen this style before. Does it come in other materials as well, not just CORK.
