Have you ever wondered what is so special about koi? I have always wondered. You see them in ponds all the time, indoor and outdoor both. I suppose they are easy to care for. Plus they can be quite colorful. People like to feed them too! Still… they don’t seem all that special. So I decided to look up some information about them. What I found was a little surprising. Although they are a type of domesticated carp, they are symbols of love and friendship in Japanese culture. I suppose that is why they are popular in Japanese artwork! Learning this has allowed me to view the clutch you see here in a different light. Meet the Roberto Cavalli Koi Metal and Leather Box Clutch!
The koi adorning this little box clutch are made of heavy metal. The scales and whiskers are accented with gold, which really pops against the dark background. There is a lot of detail packed into such a small area. A line of clear crystals run down the dorsal side of each koi. The red eyes are also crystals! These luxurious-looking little fish are just so unique, making this clutch equally unique. The only downside (I believe) is the white background. I really think these koi would look better if they were emerging from a dark background instead. Oh well, I guess this clutch will just be that much more eye-catching.
