Stella McCartney Designs for LeSportsac
Finally! Last year we revealed the collaboration between Fashion designer and PETA supporter Stella McCartney, and lightweight American handbag and luggage company, LeSportsac. Well its been a little bit over a year later and the new line is set to make it’s long awaited debut when February rolls around on LeSportsac.com.

The 17 piece Spring/Summer 2008 collection, which launches in February on LeSportsac.com, is a 100 percent eco-friendly collection made from recycled materials, down to the biodegradable dust bags each bag comes with. They feature oversized hardware, or “shoulder jewelry” as McCartney terms it,” extensive pockets both inside and out, signature McCartney parachute pulls and quilted fabrics in two color palettes – “Pop,” which features eye-catching oranges and blues, and “Posh,” a more subdued, sophisticated palette of soft mauves and dusty pinks. Video clip: Marc Jacobs, artistic director for Louis Vuitton, discusses his collaboration with Takashi Murakami in advance of the exhibition. At the very end of the clip designer Marc Jacobs reveals the new limited edition handbag collaboration.. hmm, makes me dying to know what’s blurred out in the background behind Marc-ey Marc!!

I for one am not a camouflage fan, however this new addition will have a creative bold pop-design twist to the look – it’s will be designed by prolific contemporary Japanese pop artist, Takashi Murakami!

You know T.M., he’s the creative mastermind behind many of the limited edition Louis Vuitton designer bag lines: The smiling pink Cherry Blossom Flower line, the super adorable cartoon Panda line, the delicious red Cerise cherry line, MOCA LV, the Eye Love You line and of course the Monogram Multicolore made up of 33 different vibrant colors on a white or a black background. All of the collaborations with Takashi Murakami are all highly sought after valuable collectors pieces. So I can only imagine that the monogram camouflage bag collection will be as big as the previous limited edition bags.

Date still unknown, but rumor has it the new line is due out sometime this year.

Working on the occasional collaboration project with Louis Vuitton isn’t his only creative venture. Murakami, who attended the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, works in both fine arts media, such as painting, as well as digital and commercial media. He founded the “Kaikai Kiki,” a studio where Murakami formulates the ideas but then has his 100+ assistants produce his work. In addition to producing art works for exhibition in galleries and museums, KaiKai Kiki is responsible for the design of an enormous range of mass-produced products featuring Murakami’s signature images: figurines, plush toys, keychains, t-shirts, posters, and more. I still can’t wait until the Takashi Murakami & Dream Works animated film to be released. Disney is so out.

Estee & Cristina + Reed Krakoff = Coach Miss Davenporte Bag Collection
Over the weekend celebrity stylists Cristina Ehrlich and Estee Stanley — who’s stylish client roster includes Penelope Cruz, Jessica Biel, Jennifer Morrison, and Nicole Richie — announced their latest collaboration with Coach (Coach president and executive creative director Reed Krakoff). The private luncheon was held at West Hollywood Italian bistro Ago on Friday where Maria Menounos, Mandy Moore, Sophia Bush, among other coach toting celeb’s showed up in honor of the Coach and Miss Davenporte collaboration.

The new line of limited edition designer bags will feature two styles: one smaller evening bag priced from $398-$698 and one large hobo that retails for $1,200.

The Limited Edition Julie Verhoeven for Mulberry Handbag
If you happened to check out the Mulberry site then you might have noticed there is a new collaboration project out and ready for the picking. Last season Mulberry worked with Giles Deacon for the limited edition punk chic handbag line, now for the fall-winter 2007 season Mulberry has teamed up with the illustrious illustrator Julie Vernhoeven to create a vibrant collection that will make people re-think the term “Classic British�.

“The Brief was to be both vibrant and bold and a little cheeky.. We worked around the traditional English rose icon with the thorny surprises – surrealist and nonsense elements thrown into the mix. English eccentricities and traditions gone a little askew, but with fondness and femininity.â€? – Julie Verhoeven on the Mulberry Handbag Collaboration.

Pictured above is one of the bags available in the collaboration project. It’s the super lightweight canvas tote with the Julie Verhoeven print on each side – a girl with rose red colored hair with a rose leaf in mouth and on the other side a grey and white print of a spoon with a rose bud.
