Totes for Teachers: Zac Posen & DHL Launch a New Bag
“I designed this bag to be fun, feminine, easily accessible and a little sporty. The bag’s vibrant red and yellow colors were inspired by the signature colors of my partner, DHL, a company that travels the world transporting so many valuable shipments. My hope is that fashionable and civic-minded ladies will carry the bag in acknowledgement of the very special teachers in their lives.” – Zac Posen

This is an interesting collaboration. DHL, the world’s leading global express delivery company, and Zac Posen, the New York-based fashion designer, have joined forces to raise money and awareness for TeachersCount, a national non-profit organization in the “Tote for Teachers” campaign.

The ZP-DHL Tote is made in Italian leather with DHL’s signature red and yellow colors. Each of these envelope-style totes will retail for $400 with 100% of the proceeds going to the non-profit organization. Yeah that’s right 100%! The bags also come with complimentary DHL ground delivery.

Stella McCartney for Target wool / cashmere Jacket
Here is the excerpt from wwd:
There’s no stopping the deals for Stella McCartney.

The designer, who last week inked an agreement to do a collection with LeSportsac, today will unveil another collaboration, with Target stores in Australia, which are not linked with the ones in the U.S.

The Stella McCartney for Target limited-edition, 42-piece collection will be launched in selected Target Australia stores on March 12, the beginning of the fall season Down Under. The one-off collection has been inspired by key items from McCartney’s yet-to-be-shown fall main line.

While the Target logo and shop design in Australia are similar to those of Target stores in the U.S., the Australian retailer has different owners from its American counterpart. A spokesman for the designer said there was no deal with Target in the U.S. in the works.

“I’m really excited by this collaboration, ” said McCartney. “I wanted the collection for Target to reinterpret all the ‘best ofs’ and ‘must-haves’ of Stella McCartney for winter, and make my designs more accessible to a wider audience in Australia.”

The collection includes jeans, trousers, tailored jackets, dresses, chunky knits, swing coats, blouses, T-shirts and camisoles in a range of colors and fabrics.

Larice Lewis, Target’s general manager of women’s apparel, said, “Stella McCartney for Target will offer our customers a beautiful range of winter essentials from one of the world?s leading designers, at an accessible price.”

The spokesman said prices would range from 39.99 Australian dollars, or $31, to 199.99 Australian dollars, or $155.

The Stella McCartney for Target collection will be showcased as part of Target Rocks Red Market at the 2007 L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival on March 10 and will be rolled out to select Target stores two days later.

Stella McCartney to Design Limited Edition Travel Collections for LeSportsac

Date Added: January 29, 2007

Awesome news, fashion designer Stella McCartney announced she will partner with LeSportsac, to design a series of limited edition lifestyle collections focusing on travel bags, luggage and baby accessories. Which is expected to hit store shelves Spring of next year. ( *wahoo* )

Hot off the press, today from wwd:

Stella McCartney is joining forces with LeSportsac to design a limited-edition accessories collection to be launched in spring 2008.

The collection will focus on multipurpose travel bags, luggage, baby accessories and totes for mothers with young children. The company plans to make an official announcement today.

The Stella McCartney for Le and shy; Sportsac collection will be sold in high-end department and specialty stores worldwide. It will also be sold at the three Stella McCartney boutiques – here and in New York and Los Angeles – and the five LeSportsac stores, and will be available online.

The collection initially will have 30 to 40 styles, and the average price of a bag will be $200 to $250. The deal with LeSportsac is for 18 months, and is renewable.

“LeSportsac has a strong history of making iconic nonleather goods, and this is a unique opportunity for Stella McCartney to address a new category of accessories for the busy woman of today,” said Marco Bizzarri, chief executive officer and president of Stella McCartney.

Bizzarri told WWD the new collaboration was a way for the brand to create a worldwide audience for Stella McCartney bags. “It will give her bags a wider appeal.”

McCartney has a nonleather accessories line, part of her ready-to-wear collection, that was launched for fall 2006. The LeSportsac deal is the latest in a string of partnerships the designer has formed to boost her brand’s profile as well as the bottom line.

Steve Jacaruso, chief operating officer and president of LeSportsac, said the brand wanted to “tap into Stella McCartney’s creative vision and take [Le and shy; Sportsac] to the next level of high-end design and style.”

He said the line would be innovative and versatile and the bags would appeal to a variety of women, whether or not they’re toting children around.

A Stella McCartney spokesman said the company would report its 2006 financial results in the late spring. Bizzarri said sales were exceeding expectations.

As reported, PPR, which through its Gucci Group subsidiary holds 50 percent of Stella McCartney and has majority stakes in Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen and Sergio Rossi, said the brands were “well in advance” of reaching their breakeven targets in 2007.
