Antik Batik Bongo Bag
It has been a fun week looking at the new handbags out there. The rich berry color of the Antik Batik Bongo Bag really caught my eye. I love the rich berry color of this bag which is perfect for any season!
The Italian born Gabriella Cortese is the designer behing Antik Batik. She learned dressmaking and embroidery skills from her grandmother before the age of 18. Balinese artisans taught her the skills of hand-dying and further enhanced her embroidery skills. The Bongo bag exemplifies her mastery with color and needlework!
The Bongo bag marries the trends of fringe, sequins and cross body in a very striking and eye-catching way. Tons of detail and tons of “WOW”. I’ll start with the fringe. It’s the perfect length! Not too long and not too much. The front is along the flap and edges of the bag. The woven cross-body strap has a 24″ drop making it a longer version of this style. If it is too long, simply knot it at the top! I’ve seen too many bags “posing” as cross body types that are actually kind of short for comfort and at 5’3″, any bag that purports itself to be a cross-body should fit me – of all people – comfortably! Then there are the sequin details. Just enough to make a statement, but not too much to get in your way, snag your knits or be too much to wear for day.
At $345 from Shopbop.com this bag has alot of PUNCH for your budget!

I don’t usually like fringes, but this bag is adorable!! And it would work well year-round, for a fun boho vive in summer and to punch up an outfit in winter :-)
The color looks more beet-ish than berry-ish to me. I like the bag, just maybe in a black or something.
This bag is so amazing! Putting my order in now!
Kinda of a funky bag. Lol. I like the color and fringe, but not really crazy about the actual style. I look forward to seeing the rest of their collection.
This bag looks a little Urban Outfitters to me. I actually have a bag that looks pretty similar only in a soft beige pink.
It’s a interesting bag, and worn with that certain casual-chic outfit then of course it would look amazing. But I’m too into classic styles. So nay from me.
I was playing with this bag the other day. Make note ladies, it’s pretty big. Also stock images do not do justice. It’s a gorgeous bag in person.
I’ve never heard of this designer. Are they new?
I need this bag.
Love this. Putting it on my birthday list!
I wouldn’t wear this, but my little sis would. I’m shopping around for birthday present and she wants, of course a handbag – “cross-body”, “fringe”, “colorful”.. lol
