Bag Designer Awards 2011: BRS picks Alexander Wang

When asked to pick my favorite handbag designer for 2011, I found myself wondering how I could possibly pick just one. There are so many beautiful handbags out there and so many wonderful designers. You can certainly see my dilemma here! But if I must pick one, then I will pick Alexander Wang. Hands down, he is one of the most loved designers this past year. His designs are well known for their urban street vibe. They are edgy, yet sophisticated and chic.

But who is the man behind these beautiful pieces? Alexander Wang launched his first ready-to-wear collection in 2007, after dropping out of Parsons School of Design during his sophomore year. A year later, he launched his full accessories line and Alexander Wang handbags were born! His designs have been seen on the arms of many celebrities including Ashley Tisdale, Lindsey Lohan, and Kate Bosworth. But no one seems to love their Alexander Wang handbag more than Vanessa Hudgens! She has been seen carrying her Diego Bucket Bag everywhere this last year!

Alexander Wang is most famous for his heavily studded styles. They also just happen to be my favorites! Check out the Rocco Duffel and Diego Bucket!

Both styles feature heavy pebbled leather and oversized stud detail. Alexander Wang is well known for packing on the studs, covering the entire bottom of the bag. It was this unique feature that put Alexander Wang at the top of my list!
