I have a personal shredder in my office at work that I use on a daily basis. It’s noisy, takes up valuable space, and overheats my office quite quickly. It never crossed my mind that someday an office shredder would be used as a tool to inspire a designer’s vision of a contemporary handbag. That vision became a reality to the fashion house of CC SKYE, meet the shredder hobo.
At first I felt sympathy towards the hobo; why would someone alter a leather handbag in such a cruel way? But in a mysterious macabre-meets-fashion way, this hobo is quite enticing. Black lambskin leather coats this extra roomy shoulder bag. The design sports a pretty accurate shredding effect with the lower ends feeling most of the shred blows. The unaligned, distressed leather presents a cool draped effect that we don’t commonly see done with leathers but mostly frequently done with hardware accents.
I can’t help but wonder if this style was arranged in advance or if this was a design gone-wrong that was restored and given a second chance. This is one of those handbags that you can wear for many years as it already carries a vintage appeal, and if you’re interested in the Shredder Hobo, you can find it through the online shops of Shopbop for $693.
