Ember Skye Kate Bag
Ember Skye was popular with the celebrities for a little while last year. The brand was especially known for adorning the arms of Ashley Greene and Hayden Panettiere. Surprisingly though, I have only written about an Ember Skye handbag once. That was last June. So what has this designer been up to? I can safely say that Ember Skye still has a blatant love for fringe, as evidenced by the latest collection. What’s new, however, is the addition of some unusual adornments. Just take a look at the Ember Skye Kate Bag with Mixed Agate Accents!
Yes, those are real agate stones. They have been sliced and polished, just like those large agate pendants you see. The only difference is that these “pendants” are adorning a handbag, rather than hanging from a chain. They look stunning against the backdrop of black suede fringe, creating the perfect blend of hard and soft. I love that they are all different colors and sizes. They also vary from one handbag to the next, meaning each handbag is unique. This bag has this great earthy feel to it, making it the perfect accent to your favorite boho-chic look. And it looks like Vanessa Hudgens agrees! She has been spotted sporting this pretty number, adding her to the ever-growing list of Ember Skye lovers.

Without the agates then yes.. yes.. YES!
I like this. It’s sorta hippie inspired.
Wow I had no idea Ember Skye was such an expensive brand! I would wait until this goes on sale. $500 is a bit too high.
This is a cute bag, but it does seem a little expensive.
The ember skye Kate bag is on sale at Unusual Threads (www.unusualthreads.com)
Do not buy an ember skye bag. As cute as some of them are, this is not a company to support. I ordered their Cameron clutch last December – a Christmas present to myself after a difficult year. I loved it – for the ~5-8 times I used it. But then the leather started coming out of the frame. I contacted ember skye, and at first they were very responsive. They told me to ship back the bag and they would repair it, which I promptly did (received by them 3/17). It went down hill from there. After a few weeks they sent me an email asking me if I would like another bag instead – no explanation (4/6). After asking what happened and expressing that another bag wasn’t what I really wanted, they said they were going to try a different vendor. Then they emailed they were just not confident the bag would be fixed and it would not happen again (5/3), which I admired despite the long turnaround. However, now I’m not sure I believe anything they told me. They said they would issue a refund check. It never came. I followed up twice with no response, then was finally told a check was sent on 6/6. I got a check a few weeks later…made out to someone else. Again, I’m not sure I believe anymore that this was an accident. I was told a new check would be sent on 6/26, which never came. I emailed and called MANY times with no reply. So I finally sent an email on 8/13 stating that if this was not resolved in 2 weeks, I would relay my experience. I instantly got an email back, which should have just stated — “the check is in the mail” (it did state that, just not in these exact words). Perhaps needless to say, that check never came, nor did any explanation or indication that they wanted me to walk away satisfied. The part that is frustrating is that if money were an issue and they couldn’t come up with the refund, I would have worked with them. But instead they didn’t return calls, didn’t respond to emails, and blatantly misrepresented their actions (ie. lied). In the end I would have been better off paying someone locally to fix the bag, since now I don’t have the bag or the ~$300 I paid for it (does anyone know the process for online small claims?) So, do yourself a favor- find another super cute but over priced bag, no matter how many celebs are walking around with them. They probably got them for free, from the PR agency that I hear hasn’t been paid either.
