Here in the states purse lovers have the option of Bag Borrow or Steal and From Bags To Riches, now Canadian residence can get in on the action though a similar site called Shoulder Candy.

The handbag loving creator Julie Kryk is sharing her passion for purses by introducing Canada’s first online service offering women the opportunity to rent big name designer handbags – Shoulder Candy! From the simple classics such as Novacheck Burberry, Signature Gucci, Classic Chanel or Monogram Louis Vuitton, to the trendy in-the-moment bags such as the Chloe Paddington, Fendi Spy, Dior Gaucho, Yves Saint Laurent Muse or a Marc Jacobs Stam.

It’s all about getting the designer look with out paying the designer price tag. So the next time you go shopping and see your dream bag but get stricken with frustration when you see the price tag that you actually consider purchasing a fake designer knock-off then my advise is Don’t Do It! You can borrow an authentic bag for a fraction of the price.

How Shoulder Candy works: Just log onto the site and browse through the big-name brands, choose your shoulder candy, wear it for a while, swap it for another. Right now get the first month free. The billing will start one full month after.

Once registered for a fee of $99 per month (the first month is free), book a bag by following the Borrow Me link, and in three to five business days the designer shoulder candy will land on your doorstep. There is an additional $9.99 round-trip shipping fee.

“This service gives women access to high-priced designer handbags for a fraction of what it would cost to buy one,” says Shoulder Candy creator Julie Kryk. The renting idea clicked when the 26-year-old from Windsor discovered that similar U.S. sites like Bag, Borrow or Steal and From Bags To Riches didn’t deliver north of the border.

i totally agree with you maren! mine-mine! i would get a cc and make payments. it’s a wierd idea, but yet that wierd idea is making those sites thousands. i wonder how long the “borrow” a handbag craze will last. im guessing a year or two. but we will see.
