Alexander Wang Doodle Backpack

Hold the name brand calling for a second and give this piece one more glimpse. Surprisingly, this bag doesn’t belong to a juvenile centered handbag mogul; it’s actually presented by the creations of American fashion designer Alexander Wang. This is definitely not your typical Wang, if you ask me. The Wang I admire brings out the best hardware and structures an edgy piece can present, not so much ecstatic vibe and color. We don’t dislike the Walker Doodle Print Backpack; it’s just a very different interpretation of what Alexander Wang is about. As every well known name out there has fulfilled, a funky and loud piece is a must have in every designers collection.

Belted Bag Trend: RomyGold and Alexander Wang

If you haven’t noticed, belts are making a comeback in fashion. We’re even seeing them on evening gowns. Michael Kors takes it further with harness straps on the upper torso of some of his beautifully chic sheath dresses. So, it’s no surprised that the belted trend is being expressed more and more frequently on handbags.

Alexander Wang’s new bag collection features belting galore as seen in the Kirsten Suede Satchel. Belts criss-cross each other over the entire surface of the bag creating a very very loose woven effect. The pebbled leather of the straps creates a nice and subtle contrast to the softly suede leather that comprises the body of the bag. The straps extend around the opening and finish at the zippered opening creating the illusion that they continue through it’s body.

Double-handled straps with a 5″ drop finish this satchel and a removable cross-body strap with a 22″ drop provides hands-free carrying. This 9″ x 12″ x 3″ bag features an open interior with a zippered pocket. There’s plenty of room for everything in this very fashion-forward bag. I would love to see it with minimal clothing for a very chic look. The outfit should be about the bag…. no belts on the waist! Available for $825.

Nude Bag Trend: Be&D, Alexander Wang, Foley+Corinna!

It’s just about that time of the year where we pull out our lighter colored handbags from the back of our closets and flaunt them out for the warmer months ahead. The straws and florals are always pleasant to the eye, but it’s the Neutral toned pieces that end up the winners year round.

The attractive hue dresses up any accessory, giving it an appealing feminine vibe. So it comes down to a matter of style and of course, the exact shade of the buff.

The Teague Bag by Be&D brings style and convertibility in a shade they call ‘Beach’. Glossy leather pleats and wrap around banding gives it a hip and modern look. It’s the ‘Tan & Nickle’ Rowan satchel that shows off a classier appeal as true top handles are always attractively chic. For some, it’s all about the more you have, the merrier.

Alexander Wang Bio

At the age of 18, Alexander Wang left his home in San Francisco to attend Parsons Design School in New York City. By his sophomore year, the young designer was already designing his first ready-to-wear collection. His first full womens collection, however, did not make its debut until 2007.

3.1 Phillip Lim Berry Stud Wristlet

3.1 Phillip Lim has come up with some interesting looking bags lately. My favorite being, of course, the Edie Bow Bag (okay, not a brand new style, but still pretty darn cool!). But here’s something that I don’t normally think of when I think of this line — a wristlet! Introducing the 3.1 Phillip Lim Studded Berry Wristlet! It’s a tiny package that packs quite a punch!

Oddly, if it wasn’t for the all-over studs having a distinctive cone shape, I would have sworn that this wristlet was one of Alexander Wang’s creations. After all, he really likes to crowd the surface of a bag with lots and lots of chunky studs! But you know what, I think Lim does the whole stud thing pretty well. They are the same kind of studs found on my beloved Edie Bow Bag, but they are arranged in a tight grid pattern.

Bag Ideas for the Stay At Home Mom

The term “Stay At Home Mom” is such a misnomer. No matter what age my children are, I am never home for too long. Whether it’s school, appointments, grocery shopping, kids activities or just trying to squeeze in a little me time, a mom is always on the go. She always has to be prepared for what’s needed too. When my children were little, it was spare diapers & wipes and a change of clothing. Now that they are older, I don’t need as many extras, but a big bag always comes in handy.

Personally, I think the perfect bag for a Stay At Home Mome has to be large, versatile and well-made. She’s busy and doesn’t have alot of time to change out bags, so they must go with everything. It needs to be large so that she can hold the necessities and then some. And it should be well-made so that it resists spills, dirty hands and anything else live throws at it! So, I spent some time over at Shopbop and came up with some fabulous items!

The quilted nylon Tory Burch Jaden Tote is sophisticated, roomy and sturdy. With rolled, double-handles for comfort, they are long enough for shoulder wear. A very roomy interior with side pockets will hold tons of stuff. It’s available in black and dry orange for $350. Although, items tend to get a little lost sometimes, that problem can be resolved by zip pouched accessories like the darling striped Rebecca Minkoff pouch set for $95.

Alexander Wang Tai Dopp Kit Bag

This one gives a whole new meaning to the ‘boxy’ bag, meet the Tai Dopp Kit Bag by Alexander Wang. It almost sounds industrial and it sure does have the looks to support that idea. If it weren’t for the word ‘bag’ at the end, I would have never referred to it as one. I see a closer resemblance to my Sephora makeup train case than I do to my favorite structured accessory, of course it’s like four times smaller as well.

If you’re looking for something vintage inspired, this definitely fits the theme, but I wouldn’t be quick to call this comfortable, as its interior room is limited as its top handle length is as well (that’s a 2” drop to be exact). With such boxy dimensions and structured leather you can easily replace your current evening clutch with this not-so-common looking piece.

Alexander Wang Angela Mini Pochette

Alexander Wang brought us the fabulous Rocco Duffel to carry every day. He’s doing some wonderful things with his other handbags too! We’ve come to know and love him for his rich luxurious and textural leathers, simple shapes and architectural features. With the Angela Mini Pochette, you will not be disappointed. The Angela Pochette is a bit more for the arty type. It’s a tiny bit edgy and a whole lot smart!

The 5″ drop circular handle is a bit too large to qualify it as a bracelet bag. Those tend to bother me a bit too much. It is large enough to hand-carry comfortable and even slide up onto your forearm for hands-free moments. I’m intrigued with the three ball-shaped metal studs on top of the handle. They aren’t hard edged like many of the studs, they are more of an architectural detail like the rows of signatures rounded studs on the base of the bag.
