Everybody is doing their own avant garde interpretation of the classic spiral notebook clutch. First it was Alexander Wang with the leather bound Amber, then Moschino with the My Secret Diary inscribed notebook, then most recently Barneys New York came out with their own interpretation.

All the bags have that one feature in common, the spiral detail. But what’s so different about each design? There are a few difference which makes each bag their own…

My favorite of the bunch is the Alexander Wang Amber. It actually just came out in the gray and cream leather python-print (above). To me, between all the other versions this one most closely resembles a spiral notebook, and it’s pure fabulous. Available at nap for $625

Alexander Wang has once again thought out of the box, taking the classic backpack style to the next level.

The body bag of the bag is completely created out of black velvet with a black chiffon drawstring fastening tie – the perfect combination. Other features of the design include a flap mouth covering, leather belt fastening, double shoulder straps, and a couple internal pockets, which is perfect for your wallet, keys or cell.

Make note that since the bag is made completely of Velvet, if you have any pets or if you’re ever within the vicinity of a furry critter, your backpack will be a magnet for their hair. A damp cloth can take care of the little spots, however if your cat decides to make a bed out of your bag -which my cat has has done in the past!! I would not recommend dunking it in water – the bag that is :) This bag is dry clean only, so just send it off.

Ali Larter was sporting her baby bump while heading out the lunch in Beverly Hills the other day. The former Heroes star is expecting her first child with husband Hayes MacArthur. She looks so cute in her pink floral sundress and metallic silver wedges. But what’s that bag hiding underneath her black cardigan? It was a little bit difficult to tell at first, but I have definitely made a positive ID. It’s the Alexander Wang Brenda Crossbody Bag! I guess this means we can add Ali to the Alexander Wang fan list!

This is such a cute bag! It is perfect for when you don’t want to carry a big bag around. I love the little pockets on the front and the extra long, snake chain strap. Plus I love the color! Ali’s bag is this beautiful washed silver color that looks great paired with her shoes, yet it isn’t too matchy-matchy.

Here we have another celeb that has been bitten by the Alexander Wang bug. Kate Bosworth was spotted walking her dog, Lila, outside her home. And dangling from her arm is her very lovely Alexander Wang Rocco Mini Duffle! This bag has become somewhat infamous. It is probably the most popular style from this designer, a favorite among celebs and regular ol’ bagistas alike. I can certainly see what the appeal is though. The bag has a classic, yet somewhat unstructured shape. And the stud embellished bottom is so unique. Normally you see this bag in black with gold tone hardware. Kate’s bag, on the other hand, is this gorgeous light gray color with silver tone hardware. So beautiful! And it is the perfect color for summer! I love how nice it looks paired with her light purple romper and brown gladiator sandals. This truly is the perfect look for Summer 2010!

The studs adorning the bottom of Vanessa Hudgens’s bag were a dead giveaway to its identity. It’s the Alexander Wang Diego Bucket Bag! With its pebbled leather and bold studs, this bag has a lot of attitude! But would you really expect anything less from this designer? I really like the bucket styling and the drawstring closure, both of which make this bag unique among the many Alexander Wang handbags out there. Normally classified as a rocker-chic style, the Alexander Wang Diego Bucket Bag looks adorable with Vanessa’s maxi dress. She completed her look by adding a black belt with gold tone hardware, which really adds some dimension to an otherwise simple dress. But wait, are those tan (or maybe cognac?) gladiator sandals? Cute! I like how they add a little bit of “color” to Vanessa’s black and gray outfit, without looking too bright. Plus they somehow play off the bag’s gold tone studs.

Alexander Wang is always coming up with unique and interesting-looking styles. But when I came across the Alexander Wang Elsa Framed Clutch, I found myself rather surprised. This clutch is unlike anything I have ever seen before from this designer. In fact, if I hadn’t known any better, I would have sworn this clutch was McQueen. After the initial shock wore off though, I found myself becoming intrigued. This may not look like any Alexander Wang bag I have seen before, but it is still pretty cool nonetheless. I love how this framed clutch opens up to reveal 3 different compartments. It reminds me of those vintage coin purses with the different compartments for different types of coins. And the flames printed on the dark, cowhide background are incredible! Who would have thought a clutch this small could make such a big statement?

To think that one of the fashion industries well known designers would be inspired by the game of good ole’ American football seems quite strange, but is indeed true. Attention football addicts/bagista’s, meet the Brady Football Clutch by Alexander Wang. So Wang was months short of making this clutches debut during the actual season, and although you might have no football parties to attend to at the moment, you can always add this to your ‘gear’ collection for next season. So why a clutch resembling a football? Either Alexander holds a passion for the game, or he just wanted to call out to the sports ladies.
