To help remind them of their whirlwind Indonesian adventure, Rita Overzat and her two daughters, Ali and Jenna, decided to design some genuine watersnake handbags for themselves. However, after receiving a ton of positive feedback from their friends and retailers back home in New York, the trio made the decision to introduce their creation to the world. In 2007, their handbag collection was launched under the name Beirn (pronounced “burn”), which is the shared middle name of Ali and Jenna.

Created by Rita Overzat and her two daughters, the brand first became famous when their Jenna Hobo was spotted on the arm of Sarah Jessica Parker (AKA Carrie Bradshaw) in the Sex and the City movie. Recently, however, it appears as though Beirn has been going for a slightly different look — Metallics! Introducing the Beirn Metallic Meg Tote. And since metallics are not just for the fall/winter months anymore, this genuine watersnake tote would make an excellent investment all-around. The sun is out so now is the time to bust out that vibrantly bright colored tote bag that you normally wouldn’t wear on a daily basis. It’s “Sale Time” over at Bloomingdales! I just got back from rummaging through the online department store, and I noticed they updated their sale section that I mentioned last week. Adding a bunch of new styles from designers like Be&D, Berin, Marc Jacobs, Tory Burch, the list goes on. Not limited to handbags either. Remember Sarah Jessica Parker’s orange version? Wowza! It seemed like everyone was in love with that bag! Well I just came across a new style from Beirn (pronounced “burn”) while browsing the Bloomingdale’s website today. Introducing the Beirn Ruthie Large Tote! This lovely tote features rolled double handles that have been threaded through the top portion of the bag and drawn together into a circular shape, resulting in a gentle gathering of material. I think the scrunching accents the exotic texture very nicely, giving this bag a very glamorous feeling. Plus I really like the glossy look of the Black version. It really adds to that glamor vibe. This bag would be perfect for this Fall/Winter season, as I hear exotics are going to be hot again. This beauty is definitely worth checking out. And since it is relatively inexpensive compared to other exotics out there, you won’t need to feel guilty once the “trend” has faded.

While browsing around on the Bloomingdales website the other day, I noticed that some new designers had been added to their handbag selection. Some of these designers (e.g. Jack Rabbit, Kara Ross, and Treesje) were ones I had heard of and written about before, despite the fact that some of them are relatively new to the world of handbags. However, there was also an unfamiliar face that stood out from the crowd. Introducing the Jenna Tote from a designer called Beirn (pronounced “burn”).
Intrigued by this gorgeous tote, I decided to do some investigating to see what I could learn about it and its designer. The Beirn Jenna Tote, like all bags from this designer, is constructed of genuine watersnake skin. The company, founded by a mother and her two daughters, was built on the idea of having luxury, durability and versatility all in one bag. But the Jenna Tote is more than just those things, it is also absolutely stunning! I love the simple styling and the wide range of rich colors (25 in all) that it comes in. Plus it comes with a pretty reasonable price tag. Normally, genuine snake skin runs in the quadruple digits.
