It’s just past 9: am which is usually about the time that I start my daily sample saling. First stop, always RueLaLa! They always carry my favorite designers, plus the deals are worth taking a glance at. My latest thrill: yesterday I picked up a Kooba Maci hobo! Of course pictures will come soon as it arrives. You would think that after that purchase I would take a week or two break from bag hunting (you would think!). But with the deals on the Rue I can’t resist, especially since Bottega Veneta is going to be there tomorrow!! Yea, you heard me – BO-teg-a VEN-eta

Winter has just begun, but the fashion world is already thinking about spring. Every year, it seems there is a new IT color. For Spring 2012, I’m going to guess that color is Lemon Yellow! Why? My first clue was the fact that online shops are already littered with this sunny hue. Clothing, shoes, accessories… you name it. I’m not sure if I would be daring enough to wear a dress in this color. However, I do happen to think it looks dashing on a handbag. In fact, I have a Treesje Mini Asher in Lemon and I absolutely adore it. It’s bright, fun, and adds a little pop to those dreary winter months. Plus it looks so cheery with more colorful pieces during the spring and summer! So it looks like I’ll be carrying that bag with pride this year, even though it has already been well loved! But what about this new stuff I mentioned earlier? If you’re wanting to take part in the color trend, you should definitely check it out. Here are a couple of pieces from the current selection!

Well-worn denim, the perfect vintage Chanel jacket and an amazing Bottega Veneta handbag. What do they have in common? Sometimes being a little frayed around the edges is a good thing.
Bottega Veneta has some of the most incredibly sumptuous leathers on the planet. Supple and luxurious as well as easy to wear. While many premium designer handbags are structured (think Hermes Birkin/Kelly and Chanel 2.55), Bottega Veneta is the ultimate in squishy. Their hobos are iconic and highly coveted by the fashion elite and aspirational shoppers like me!

I love how Bottega Veneta’s hit iconic bag, the Knot Intrecciato Clutch, comes back season after season with a new look complimentary to the current seasons trends.
The latest to hit the boutique shelves is the beautiful Magma Carmine Intreccio Onde Ayers Karung Knot (retail: $2,450). Dressed in interweaving waves of teal and turquoise blue textured Karung snakeskin. An irresistible beauty!

It’s that day of the week again when a new shipment of bags come in at our favorite designer boutique, net-a-porter!
Three times a week, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, Net-a-Porter gets a fresh batch of designer bags, clothing, shoes and accessories -it’s three days a week that you want to get there as soon as you can to check out the selection, because on some occasions the items do sell out really fast.

I realize that we haven’t even gotten past Christmas yet, but it’s never too early to think about Spring (at least for me anyway)! And what better way to think about Spring than a nice Spring-y color on a handbag? Let’s see, what would be a good color? Ah yes, Lime Green! It’s the perfect color for putting a little spring in your step! But don’t worry about looking out-of-season in the middle of Winter. As my fellow TBFer Jess pointed out, Lime Green is the hot color for Christmas this year as well. It looks so fresh in that classic red-green combo! And it will look just as fresh with your Winter wardrobe and carry you all the way into Spring! So give Lime Green a chance, you will find that it looks stunning on a handbag! Just check out these beauties I have pictured below!
Diane von Furstenberg Belle Ruffle Evening Bag in Citron
Nothing screams DVF more than something that sits a little bit outside of the box! I love the cute ruffles adorning the front side of this clutch. Plus the studded leather trim adds just enough edge so you don’t feel overwhelmed with “fluff”. The perfect accessory for all those holiday parties!

It’s that time of year when I diligently prepare “appropriate” wish lists for in-laws, family and my husband. I take into consideration whether or not it has potential for fulfillment due to perceived frivolity and expense. My in-laws are conservative in lifestyle and while they have three homes, don’t spend on high fashion purchases. My parents have been hit by the recession, so not asking for anything there and my husband thinks I already have too many purses! I tend to buy my own bags most of the time. So, what’s a fashion-minded girl to do? Since I don’t have the chance to ask for my deepest heart’s desire, I thought it would still be fun to prepare my dream wish list.
Vintage Chanel 2.55
Growing up, my mother and I were avid vintage collectors. We collected bags, jewelry and clothing from the 50′s. I learned to appreciate the value of high-quality pieces as enduring and timeless. I never ran across a vintage Chanel. Every time I get close to the new version of this dream, the price jumps up putting it more our of my reach. While I continue to lust after the new styles, I dream of finding a gently used vintage one at a fabulous price. The Holy Grail of a sort. Of course even vintage comes with a price. This vintage black 2.55 is at Shopbop for $3150 showing that had I taken the plunge years or even a decade ago, it would have been a better investment than the stock market.

Nancy Gonzalez Tassled Bag
Every collection deserves an amazing exotic bag. Several years ago, I fell in love with Nancy Gonzalez handbags. It was the first time I’d seen Crocodile bags that were soft and supple rather than hard. I should have taken the plunge then when prices were half of what they are now. The lesson learned is buy what you love and buy less! This beautiful tassled bag showcases beautiful camel croco in a more ladylike style. It is an extremely lare size though, so it is sure to capture loads of attention. It measures 16″ x 9″ x 71/2″. A perfect fit for my collection! $3650.

If you’re a Bottega Veneta fan, then you in for a big surprise once you check out one of their latest accessory pieces. It’s the Iridescent Nappa (leather) Beetle Clutch, a newbie to the upscale French couture house. The first question that came to mind was, why a beetle?! The second, where did this inspiration come from? With the little rain shower received in my neck of the woods, there has been an increase in the variety of arthropods that one sees. With that in mind, picking a favorite bug to adorn on my accessories is the least of my concern.
Taking the giant beetle out of the picture and focus on the accessory itself, I actually like how this clutch reveals three roomy flat pockets and one zip compartment. I’d say this layout keeps you slightly more organized than a single compartment would. Of course, Veneta had to apply finishing touches of its infamous interwoven leather braiding, throughout the giant bug and the edgings.
