The Chat: Bottega Veneta Croc

Thrifty thrill of the day can be spotted over at online designer deal boutique Bluefly – earlier this week they just got a bunch of new Bottega Veneta handbags in stock from the current spring 2009 season. One of the bags that caught my eye is this adorable little dressy satin woven Bottega Veneta ‘Knot’ clutch in green apple. Yummy.

What is it that I like most about this clutch? Well, I am totally in love with the Intreciatto woven style, which the Italian luxury leather house is famously known for. I’m not really big on signatures – it gives me like a walking advertisement feeling. Don’t get me wrong, I adore and obsess over LV as well as those other designers that sometimes write their names allover their bags, but it’s just not something I would add to my bag-drobe. I like subtle signature styles, where the signature can be found inside the bag – which Bottega is loved by many for.

The Chat: Bottega Veneta ‘Knot’ clutch

When the name Bottega Veneta comes to mind, I think timeless, classic, and weaved leather. Any ideas why Picnic Blanket was the first thought that popped into my head when I ran into this piece? It’s called the Intrecciato multicolor tote and I don’t know about you ladies, but I’m definitely not feeling this piece. There’s just something about this plaid pattern that brings tablecloths to mind. I think a pattern like this should stay in the diner, not on your handbag. Let’s ignore the hues for a moment and admire the amazing craftsmanship of interwoven leather. As always, Bottega Veneta never fails to present a beautiful weaved piece. I adore the classic satchel shape that’s present and a full side-to-side zipper allows wide access to the interior of this bag, which is a plus in my book. I would like to note that the hues used on this bag are actually orange and cream, so that’s one small step away from an actual tacky tablecloth. Bottega Veneta Leaf-Print Canvas Tote
The Italian name Bottega Veneta is known for their luxurious interwoven leather goods, which are usually constructed by hand. Their designs are not only soft in touch, but also classic. When I think of the name Bottega Veneta, a smooth looking woven leather handbag usually comes to mind. That’s why when some Veneta handbags are made with a material other than leather; they seem to stand out from all the rest. I ran into the perfect example of this idea today as I spotted the Leaf-Print Canvas Tote among the group of leather bags.

There is always something interesting about a handbag. If you haven’t already noticed, the prints found all throughout the totes body, are of leaves. You must admit it’s quite a nice print for the spring/summer seasons. I certainly like it. As I had already mentioned, another feature that really stands out are those woven leather handles Veneta specializes in. It is also the only leather found among this handbag. It’s double braided leather shoulder straps are truly a Veneta classic, which I truly adore!
