The holidays are just around the corner! I know this is supposed to be a happy time of year, but for some reason I have been feeling a little depressed. Perhaps it is because there is less sunlight right now. I always feel gloomy when it is gloomy outside. So I was thinking I needed a little spring added to my step. And what better way to do that than buying a new handbag? Now there is a holiday trend that I think will make the perfect fit. Any guesses? Nothing screams holiday spirit more than candy apple red! I have been wanting a new red handbag for a long time, so what better time than now? And if you happen to feel the same way I do, then I suggest you take a look at this trend. After all, red handbags are A LOT of fun! To get you started, check out the styles featured below!
Tory Burch Bow Envelope in Lobster Red. $275
Nothing is more beautiful than patent candy apple red. It is so slick and shiny, just like a candy apple. I absolutely love it on crossbody bags! The small size is perfect for such a flashy color. Plus I love the sweet little bow on this particular piece. It is just too cute!
While browsing the web looking at handbags (what else, right?) today, I started to notice something odd. There are a lot of perforated handbags floating around right now. Is this a new trend or something? If so, I don’t think I received the memo. I guess when I think about perforated bags, I flash back to Louis Vuitton’s perforated collection from a few years ago. There weren’t too many perforated bags to speak of after that. Now they are suddenly popping up everywhere. What gives? Oh well, I suppose I can give this trend a chance. After all, some of the styles might actually be cute. Just be careful though. I think this is a very tricky trend to pull off. Bright colors or bright white keep this look fresh. I picked out a couple pieces that I like, just so you can see what I’m talking about. Enjoy!
Furla Perforated Brooklyn – $498
You don’t see Furla too much anymore, but this designer really seems to be making a comeback. This shoulder bag is nice. I like how it is slouchy at the top, but it still has a somewhat structured bottom. The tiny perforations are perfect for someone wishing to try this trend without getting their feet too wet. The crisp white is great too, pairing nicely with just about anything.
I’ve never been a huge fan of Furla. They always struck me as a brand that appealed to an older audience. Being in my 20′s, I never saw any Furla bags that I wanted or desired. Even the outlet store in my hometown has never had anything amazing. I think my mind has just changed though after seeing the Furla “Amazonne Rocks” Satchel. This satchel is so beautiful that I’m now seeing the brand in a new light because this bad is trendy, stunning and stylish.

Furla Blush Croc Embossed Leather ‘Greta’ Tote
I love the color pink, so much so that when I see a handbag in pink I’m pretty much like a kid in the candy store and I have to have it. Usually, I have to calm down and tell myself it would just be an impulse buy. Right now I’m loving the pink Furla Greta croc embossed leather tote. It does look like Furla was a little inspired by the Hermes Birkin but this tote is absolutely gorgeous. If the leather was real crocodile skin this tote would be to die for. I love the shape, the metal feet at the bottom, and of course having the leather strap laced through the brackets is a stunning bonus. One huge flaw about this bag, in my opinion, is that it weighs 2 pounds. Yes, that might not sound like a lot, but if you are like me and you carry practically your whole dresser in your bag it may get kind of heavy after a while. I think this handbag is gorgeous, but I won’t lie, it may come off as a fake Hermes Birkin.
This handbag retails for $540 but Bluefly has lowered it to $348. Not so bad for a beautiful handbag, if you like pink. This bag is not offered in any other color on Bluefly, so if you aren’t loving the color this will probably be a pass for you.

Furla Carmen Trapuntato Gigante Shopper
Furla was never a designer brand that caught my attention. I always thought Furla had beautiful bags but they were never really my style. While browsing Nordstrom.com earlier today I came across a beautiful handbag. Little did I know that beautiful bag was, to my amazement, by Furla. The handbag is called the Carmen Trapuntato Gigante Shopper and it’s perfect for the “extra large” handbag lover. The handbag is complete with a magentic snap closure, protective metal feet, quilted leather, and it’s made in Italy. What more could a bagista ask for? My favorite part of this handbag is the gorgeous quilted leather in cherry. For some reason cherry is one of those colors that is making my heart sink for the upcoming Fall 2008 handbag season. It you are not to keen on the cherry color, have no fear, the bag also comes in Onyx (black) and Terra (brown).
What’s amazing about Furla is that their handbag prices aren’t that high compared to the competition out there. This stunning handbag retails for a mere $745, which is a great buy for a big, gorgeous designer handbag. This handbag is so big you can fit your whole dresser plus your lap top in it and still have plenty of room. I am so in love with the Furla Carmen Trapuntato Gigante Shopper that I’m so tempted to go buy it! It’s definitely a gorgeous handbag to have for the fall, wouldn’t you agree?

Furla faux-snake Venere Bow Bag
A few people have pointed out that I rarely bring up Furla handbags for the topic of discussion. I’m rarely blown away by Furla. I find that a vast majority of their designs to be very simple with no distinctive features that make it stand out from a bag you can buy from Macy’s for in the range of only $250. Furla on average carries a price tag of $300 – $800 for a handbag.
Well after much browsing, I discovered this new addition to their hall of purses, it’s the bow-shaped clutch, which surprisingly, I find this little Furla faux-snake bow purse adorable. I do wish it were made of real snakeskin, considering it’s likely you can find a real snakeskin purse for this price ($345).
