Obsessed: Jil Sander Maia Faith
Sometimes you just gotta have a little faith.. or a ‘Maia Faith’ Clutch.
A sleek and shiny black leather silhouette with a green and white ‘Faith’ slogan appliqué. It’s the perfect addition to your wardrobe to make that bold statement. The other side features an easy-access burgundy leather pouch pocket (ideally for your ID or cards)
When I think of minimalistic designs, I immediately think of Jil Sander. She truly is the master! For her, minimalistic does not have to equal boring. She will often use ultra bright colors to add some interest to her otherwise simple pieces. That is what I like about her designs! So what happens when she produces a piece that is just plain… well, plain? You get this clutch you see pictured here. Introducing the Jil Sander Milton Clutch!
When I first learned of Jil Sander, it was through the infamous Market Tote. This designer screams minimalistic chic. In the case of the Market Tote, this sentiment definitely rings true. Super simple design meets super bright colors. The leather is luxuriously soft and the bag is versatile. I have always loved the idea of converting a handheld shopping tote into a shoulder bag with nothing more than a removable piece of leather. But Jil Sander is more than that one ingenious creation… so much more! Just take a look at the Jil Sander Textured Satchel. I stumbled across it the other day and it has been on my mind ever since!
Jil Sander’s name is synonymous with pure, understated fashion. When it comes to her handbags, the German-born designer is known for pairing simple shapes with ultra bright colors. Perhaps her most well-recognized design is the Market Bag, which has been made available in just about every color of the rainbow. It’s simple styling and 2-in-1 design have made it a very popular (and versatile) item. Her talent, however, doesn’t end with just one style. Her collection contains a wide variety of styles in all shapes and sizes. Just check out the Jil Sander Pyramid Clutch! I wasn’t kidding when I said all shapes and sizes!
I don’t know about all of you, but I could sure use a little color in my life right about now! I’m not talking Easter egg pastels though. I’m talking bright colors that really pop! That’s why I am really liking these Market Leather Bags from Jil Sander!
With bright colors like this, you definitely need to keep the other details to a minimum. That’s why the simple hobo shape is the perfect compliment to these “notice me” shades. What I find most intriguing, however, is that the designer still managed to make this simple style into a versatile piece. Take a closer look at that contrasting shoulder strap and you will see that it is actually removable. The result is a double handle shopper, perfect for a more casual look. What a fun and contemporary idea!

Colorful Clutches: Jil Sander v. Mundi
One of the hottest looks for the spring is colorful cluthes. They have been seen all over the runways. These perfect little bags fit right in the palm of your hand and bring that little zest of color to your outfit. These little bags are just big enough to fit your credit card and lipstick…but what more do you need right?
I found colorful clutches offered by two different designers for two VERY different prices. The first picture features bold neon clutches in exotic leather by Jil Sander. These Jil Sander clutches retail at about $750 and come in a variety of bright colors. The second picture features colorful clutches by Mundi. They consist of faux leather, also come in a variety of colors, and can be found at mundiwestport.com. They look pretty similar don’t they? Do you feel as eager to spend $750 on a small clutch as you would on a large tote?
I personally think that the $30 clutches are adorable, and for $30 a piece…why not buy them in every color! While there is a noticeable difference in skin quality, are you really going to carry your tiny clutch around enough to care that much? These little bags are great for certain outfits but certainly aren’t your everyday bag. I would rather splurge and spend $750 on a large bag that I will carry around all the time and save and pay $30 for the tiny clutch. They certainly are adorable anyway!
