Kate Spade Essex Scout

When I walk by a gumball machine, I have to smile. The bright colored little balls of gum are cheerful and whimsical. It’s what initially caught my eye with the Kate Spade Essex Scout Leather Cross Body Flap Bag. Hmmm. just like the gumball, that’s quite a mouthful.

Bright colors are another big trend this season as we shake off the winter grey and all that black clothing we’ve been wearing. What better than to do a 180 degree turn and go super bright! Bone white, Citronella yellow and Hot Pink catch your eye and make you smile. They are such fun colors and can surprisingly be worn with a lot of different wardrobe choices!

Kate Spade is synonymous with ladylike styling. This structured bag definitely fits with her style, but is also a bit more casual with it’s satchel styling. You’ll be able to shake up your work wardrobe with some bold color and some crisp styling. This is a satchel style with a magnetic flap closure, buckle and strap details. There’s a front patch pocket and open interior with zippered pocket.

The details count in this bag too. Silvertone buckles and strap accents, the traditional Kate Spade stamped logo and white top-stitching add the finishing touches. On the pink example, the stitching adds a nice contrasting accent.

While lady-like, this bag can handle all the stuff you’ll need to throw in it during your day. It’s a roomy 10 1/2″ x 6 1/4″ x 3″. Finally, an adjustable 21″ – 22 1/2″ cross body strap is nice because we aren’t all made the same. Some of us need a slightly shorter strap (me)!

For $395, you can afford to indulge in the season’s hottest trends. Go to the Kate Spade Boutique at Nordstrom!

I hate the way the name looks on it. It`s just so much different than Prada, for instance.

It looks cheap on these bags

I think the pink and yellow are perfect for summer, and maybe even year-round, depending on where you live. I live in Florida and we wear colors like this every season

Wow so impressed. I had no idea that Kate Spade made such cute purses. I always thought of her as just a shoe and clothing designer, never really payed too much attention to her handbags.

I like it a-lot, but what would be really neat is if the strap was removable for extra versatility. It would make such a cute clutch. Shouldbag by day, clutch by night..

I have seen this bag on other sites, and the more I look at them, the more I like them. I love bright colors and wear them year round. This bag would be no exception. The pink is by far my favorite.
