Handbag designer Kate Spade New York has always had a bit of a kooky side when it comes to her purses. This is evident in her most recent collection, which really seems to stand out. Her handbags are whimsical and a tad woodsy. The only thing that bothers me is that some of them look a bit too summer themed for heading into the fall season. However, these pieces are cute nonetheless and I have my eye on one piece in particular. Take a moment and discover the Kate Spade ‘Blaze a Trail’ Gnome Clutch!
Why do I like this piece so much? This might sound silly, but I happen to like gnomes. There is just something so innocent about them. They bring back memories of my childhood (there was a cartoon I loved that had a gnome in it) and, as cheesy as they might be, they are fun to have as a lawn ornament in your garden.
The darling Kate Spade ‘Blaze a Trail’ Gnome Clutch depicts what I would call a classic gnome, inspired by the ceramic gnomes often found in english gardens. He has a green coat with a belt and a pointed red hat. He is made of acetate, glossy for the body and glittered for the hat. The clutch actually opens at the top of his hat and the whole thing splits lengthwise. It also comes with an optional gold tone metal snake chain strap, which matches the push-lock closure. I see this a fun conversation piece, adding a heavy dose of whimsy to any ensemble. Perfect for outings that are not too serious (but still require a clutch).
The Kate Spade ‘Blaze a Trail’ Gnome Bag is available at ShopBop, retails for $348.
