Kenneth Cole No Slouch Bag

Sometimes it feels good to find a classic, simple handbag that we know we would use non-stop. I know for me, I do have some designer handbags but I always find myself using the more simpler bag more. My Louis Vuitton “Multicolor” Speedy barely gets used but then my Michael Kors “Uptown” Astor Shoulder Bag gets used repeatedly. I’d like to believe that although the Speedy is a classic, iconic bag there are way too many colors on it, whereas my Michael Kors bag is strictly black.

I’ve never owned a Kenneth Cole handbag but when I saw the “No Slouch” Satchel I was intrigued. There isn’t much to it, quite simple actually, but yet it’s perfect to use as an everyday bag. I love that you have the option to use it as a satchel or a shoulder bag and I absolutely love that it’s so plain. The only decoration this bag has is the tiny studs featured on the handles and that’s perfect. The studs add a tiny bit of detail to the bag they are just the right amount to not go overboard.

Kenneth Cole New York Freeze Frame Pleated Satchel
Not much is said about Kenneth Cole Handbags over at TBF. I suppose I can understand why. Afterall, whenever I think of Kenneth Cole, I think of either shoes or jewelry. In fact, handbags are the furthest thing from my mind. But you know what? After inspecting a few handbags from Kenneth Cole, I have discovered they really aren’t all that bad. And the fact that they are relatively inexpensive could be a plus factor for someone on a budget. Take, for example, the Kenneth Cole New York Freeze Frame Pleated Satchel. It has both a classic shape and some nice-looking pleats. In addition, the interior of this bag is pretty cool. It has a framed compartment in the center with an open compartment on either side. The only thing that I don’t like about this bag is its handles. They have a broken appearance as opposed to a smooth, clean one. Personally, I think they are distracting. Perhaps solid wood or resin handles would have been a better choice. Or, at the very least, continuous pieces of leather without all that hardware. What does everyone else think?

The Kenneth Cole New York Freeze Frame Pleated Satchel is available in three different colors: Poppy, Orange, or Black. It measures 15.5″ x 10″ x 7.5″ and it retails for a reasonable $398.

I’m not much of a multitasker – I can’t even drink my coffee and walk at the same time, this became obvious today on my (almost) daily stroll down to Nordstrom’s. I picked up my usual double tall sugar-free nonfat vanilla latte from my favorite Seattle’s Best on Pike street and as I was walking up the hill I attempted to take a sip, completely missing my mouth and spilling a trail of coffee on my new Diane von Furstenberg Tunic (just got in the mail) and Joe Jean Gauchos. Thank goodness for those Shout Wipes! I never used them before, and for some reason yesterday when I switched bags I grabbed a couple. I will never leave the house without.

So when I finally made it to Nordstrom’s I started off browsing the handbag department (of course), which is where I rediscovered the Kenneth Cole New York ‘Lace Kelly’ Satchel – (fyi Nordstrom Rack of Seattle has this bag for $79, the oversized clutch for $49 and the satchel for $99 – prices differ with area) a feminine framed leather satchel with decorative vertical lacing detailing topped off with a large flower. This Kenneth Cole bag is only available in black, blue ice, or espresso.
