Jeanne Lanvin was a pioneer in her day, making a big name for herself in the world of 1920s fashion. She designed clothing for women, men, and children alike. Her designs often employed the use of quilted fabrics, lace, and texture. She also enjoyed mixing different materials together, such as patent with matte or transparent with opaque. She was inspired by the impressionist artists of her time, as well as by the many different cultures she paid visit to around the world.

When I see Lanvin pieces today, especially when it comes to handbags, I can see that her sense of style still lives on in the designs. Take, for example, the Lanvin Quilted Amalia Cabas Tote. This large, lambskin tote is simple and chic. However, it also offers a variety of textures to entice the onlooking eye. It has quilting, grosgrain ribbon, tortoiseshell, and chains. But what I find most interesting about this tote is the cleaver use of the chain handles. They are actually all one piece, threaded through the tortoiseshell grommets. Simply grab one of them and pull it out to lengthen… and you have a nice shoulder bag instead of a hand held tote! Cool and classy!

What’s this I see? Could this be a new City Tote from Foley and Corinna? Wrong! Try again! This bag is actually one of Lanvin’s new additions for Spring. Introducing the Lanvin Assouan Flat Sac.

Soft navy blue leather is paired with brown braided handles and black/silver lucite stud hardware. It is a convertible style, just like the F+Cs I have come to know and love. It can be worn either as a hand-held or a shoulder bag. Or, you can simply take the detachable strap off, fold it in half, and carry it as a nifty magazine clutch. Overall, this bag isn’t too bad. I love the rich navy blue color, the studs, and the versatility. The braided leather handles threw me off a little bit at first, but they are starting to grow on me. Foley and Corinna lovers will most likely feel drawn to this bag. I know I do! Now if only it was priced like a F+C!

Ou La La! That’s actually the name of this clutch, and I can clearly see why. French couture brand Lanvin, presents to us something that makes me want to dress up really bad, just so I could accessorize with this pretty. The choice of anthracite on satin is excellent, as I imagine how versatile it would be among different colors of evening wear. I’m really digging the dark elegant look yet there’s that nice feminine touch of florals and silk ribbon present. About the cluster of jewels found right up front, what’s not to love about them? Its design is stunning, pleasant, and something I wouldn’t want the gems to fall off of! Lanvin really kept the typical evening woman in mind by adding quick and functional features such as a magnetic flap top closure for easy access to your essentials and an internal vanity mirror intended for quick touch-ups via your own clutch (yay)! Measuring in at 10” x 6” x 2”, you can find this pretty up for grabs for $1,575. Definitely steep, but oh so pretty! Ladies, what’s your input on this clutch, and would you wear this?

The Chat: Lanvin Ou La La Clutch

I have always been a long time fan of Lanvin designs, but finally I have invested in one of their beautiful bags – the Lanvin Ludvine Bag.

The leather is to die for – made in a thick and buttery black leather with brown goat leather handles. I never thought that I would be such a fan of a black and brown bag but I absolutely love the combination. The frame of the bag features a magnetic Lucite frame closure so it snaps close every time.

I usually pair this bag with a casual look – boyfriend sweater, skinny jeans and flats.

Designer Purse Deal: Lanvin Woven Straw Ludvine Bag
Everyone has that one (or two, or three, or yes even four) bag(s) that they love to death, that they couldn’t ever imagine any other bag coming close in comparison, or well at least ever chucking it in closet dooming it for years, only to substitute it for any other. Trends come and go, but the bag you love is classic, timeless, or even just plain ideal for your everyday needs. You have met your match. It may be your Chanel 2.55 bag, Balenciaga City, YSL Muse, Coach Signature Tote, Hermes Birkin, etc. For me, well besides my GSH City and (at this moment) Nightingale, the love in my life that I can’t seem to part with, ever since I saw it sitting neatly upon a pedestal in the Barney’s window, is my Lanvin Ludvine bag. (satin version pictured on momist). Not exactly the same version pictured above, mine is dressed in a luxe squishy black leather with vintage brown goat flat handles and features a totally chic lucite frame. Nonetheless, if they were standing next to each other, one would obviously come to the conclusion that they are closely related if not twins. I will wear it until its death..

The version resting in my closet is long sold out, however the style lives.. but not for too long because it’s in the sale section of bluefly for 20% off!

The form of the bag (pictured above) is created out of black woven straw and features silver-tone hardware. For easy access there is a large front patch pocket with twist-lock closure, that’s ideal for everything you want close (cellphone, keys, tickets, etc). The double rolled leather straps has a 6.5” drop, so to fits comfortably over the shoulder. The framed bag opens wide enough (about 11″,) to reveal everything in your bag within reach. No sifting for your wallet. Also, the lucite frame has a magnet built in, so it snaps shut with the slightest tap. Measurements: 15.5” at widest x 9.5” tall at center x 7” deep.
